if you are worried you will soon out grow the blade here is a little mess around we did at DMHC last year. this is mine its one of the first blades sold(and the actual one photo'd on phoenix). we did this straight out of the box,no adjustments to heli or tx. just a battery charge and check over before flight. woodie blades!!! first few minutes is chrisb then ade law takes over at 4.44mins with a nice 400 auto at the end

I was in the same sort of boat. Yesterday I bought the Twister 3D Storm second hand but looks good as new with many spares and bateries, I also the DX7 but this was new and expensive - Along with all the other little unexpected extras I cant believe I spent just under £500 in one day on this - I think it will be worth it. Even if you do not get on with it, all is not lost as someone will be looking for some gear to get started too

Seems like the Blades a favourite at the moment. Will wait until the end of the month and buy one. I have a mac so have used bootcamp and got myself Vista ready for Phoenix.

Hi, Paul. Another newbie here, putting in my two penn'orth. I've got a coax, complete with bog standard 4 channel Tx. I am looking to upgrade, and am following the same sort of process. I've got Phoenix, tho, so at least I can practice. The Blade is so twitchy on the sim, but I believe a lot nicer in the flesh (so to speak) A very nice man called Eddie is looking at costings for me, and will let me know ballpark figures for different helis. I'll pass this on if you are interested?

IMHO, it's easy to have a rush of blood to the head, and buy the first thing to get you in the air, but I'm trying to sit on my hands for a bit. (That, and the wife/boss has confiscated my credit cards )

                      Hi Brian,

Yes if you could pass it on the would be brill. I know what you mean, I always tend to buy things too quick and should investigate a little more but keep me informed if you can.

lol oh well never mind they are more or less identical.

still though if i was starting out i would get the twister storm and a dx7 that way i was set for a long time and would never have to buy more radio gear even if i got a nitro later on.

                        Twister Storm £169
                        Dx7 - fast lads £229

a little bit more to begin with but long term saving on radio gear.

My two pennys worth guys .........

I have both the blade and the 450 .................the blade I bought first as the radio was worth the price ............the 450 I bought after because it was the 450 must have ....

I flew the 400 to death .............average £30 per crash on parts ..............parts identical with the twister if I emptied my local model shop .........The T- rex flew like it looked ........very classy .................but guess what ..............I flew the blade more .........just something about it i loved ...threw it about .....crashed it .......learn't to build it .....still do even though I fly nito's now ........and something else ............I fly all my helis off the DX6i that came with the blade .............the 450 however ............when I pranged it it cost around £70 a hit .............big outlay considering I pay around £ 80 a hit with the rappy 50 .......

Cost is the factor .......performance is about the same other than the 450 feeling more stable ......my advice is the 400

                          DAZZ
THERE IS A DIGNITY IN SILENCE....

400 it is then. I can pick one up from my local store for £269.99 so will pop down there at the end of the month.

Can I add my 2p mate, shop around, don't have to go to local store, you can get the Blade a bit cheaper, though admittedly not much and tbh at least you'd have it local and in your hand so to speak.

I'll be honest, I have been fortunate enough to have a mate let me fly his REX and I honestly couldn't get on with it. That may just be me, as a lot of people love them, but it felt really sluggish compared to my B400 and he has a more powerful motor fitted, hence it's likely his setup is just plain wrong.... Still, I don't see me not flying the Blade any time soon although I'm looking for a bigger heli, I had decided on the Nitro route but the jury's still out while I weigh up the costs, figure whether I go 500 class leccy or 50 class nitro all up I'm looking at around 800 quid to get off the ground.

Leccy's the batteries on that size heli are dear while nitros I'd have a lot to cart around on the bus. And I'd have to get all the equipment to go with 'em. Either way I need a new charger. Mounts up dunnit...?

I am glad the Blade 400 is getting so must praise. Very much looking forward to getting mine (in Twister 3D Storm guise) going
