  • A little help with blade tracking, please.

I have been rebuilding my Blade 400 after I had a crash and I have set everything up so that it is pretty much spot on but I am a little confused with the blade tracking.

Now, when I was setting the head up, I adjusted the pitch of the blades to -9 through to +9. I span the heli upto speed so that I could check the blade tracking and noticed that it is slightly out so I will need to sort that but what I am puzzled about is that surely if I correct the blade tracking the pitch of the blade/blades will no longer be -9 to +9?

Can someone explain for me please?

    Cheers.

Depends on which blade you set up, as the other one will be slightly different.

As it's close, do the tracking first, then finally reset the pitches. Compare both blades and should be similar.

Mark one blade or blade grip as a master, set up the pitch curve using this blade. As a check I also set the master blade at zero degrees then check the other blade and adjust to zero. Spin the heli up into a hover, if the tracking is out only adjust one blade, that's the one that's not the master, this way you won't end up moving the pitch curve one way or the other. You quite often find a little variance, even when both blades come up the same with the pitch gauge, there are small tolerances that can cause this, just ignore it.

          Thanks for the help, guys.

I just sorted the tracking out then and like you said, all I needed is one turn which sorted the tracking and hardly affected the pitch.

          Cheers.
