  • Twister 3D

    Hi all
I have a Twister 3D which I am learning on, (I also have an aging Kalt Baron 30). As a new flier, I have had the statutary mishaps, the most recent being a tumble over while landing, the main shaft was bent, blades damaged, and in addition 1 tooth chipped off of the forward tail drive gear. OK thats alright, all rebuilt and having another go, a slightly heavy landing saw the same gear damaged again, the problem is you have to buy a complete gearset to get it, I know its not vast money, but at this rate, I will have a tub of main gears and tail gears for the tail end of the boom, but no spare tail drive gears. Has anyone else had a similar problem, or is it just me being picky :?: :?: :?:

      Hi
or just sell all common parts you seem to gather on the BMFA web site
or ebay.... So that odd gear could make you a penny!

...or buy some training undercarriage ?

Just how many hours stick-twiddling do you have to put in before you can justify buying the Breitling ?

          Hi
go and buy from a store some metal bar same diameter as the Twister
Main shaft then make a solid one instead of there hollow ones.

Guy at our club has done this afetr bending one. Saves a Lot of little
mishaps costing a lot of time.

Been flying my Twister 3D today in 12 mph winds...

          There so nuts!

My problem is the tail drive gear, stripped another one today, I have training gear on, but this happens if I land a little heavy, and the tail contacts the ground, I would not mind if it wiped out all the gears, as I now have 3 spare sets, but is is always the drive gear where it meshes onto the main drive, this gear is so small, and I guess very fragile, still onwards and upwards (or in my case downwards), its bank holiday weekend, Ive used my last spare gear, so better not trash it again tomorrow,
            Happy Flying everyone

              Kwickkwack:

Been throwing around my Twister 3D not heavy landings though
but she did rock over got caught on something. New blades required.

Also a Servo died as well

You keep droping it in on landing? Try flairing it more with the throttle
before it gets to the ground level!

Been having loads of fun till the servo died.

              Great little Heli

                Hi Disc
Glad thigs are not going too badly, I am still very new to this, and the last tail in landings were in the garden at home, limited room and a fear of hitting the fence, still point noted, and if this wind ever dies down, I will be back out there trying again, incidently, if you wiped out the blades, mainshaft is probably bent as well, as these seem soft. and I would double check the gearset, as they do seem fragile.
Best Of Luck, and if anyone hears of any "improved Parts" available for the gearset I would be glad to hear from them

my incendent didnt bend the main shaft

At our club someone has nipped to BQ got some metal bar and made
solid main shaft for his Twister 3D!

Doesnt do it any harm at all

forgot to ask you have removed the throttle rachett or at least made
it smoother. If its got a notch everytime up throttle up or down it
wants removeing or backing off a bit. Open the back of the tranny
find the little rachet arm and just gently back it off.

                    Hi Disc
I have the ratchet backed off, some of my problem is simply learning and confidence, but today, I managed to practise for two complete batteries without crashing or a "heavy landing"
Weather permitting will carry on tomorrow, but away for the weekend, so practise will have to wait, (might take the laptop and practise on the sim)

The wife was at the model shop picking up a spare set of gears for me, and the JRP rep was there, gave him a bit of stick, so you never know, may get a result, and be able to buy them on their own

                      TailFin

Doesnt your Tail Fin Stop the rotors hitting the ground, I have a Twister 3D and hav'nt had the rotors hitting.
They cant reach the ground cause the fin stops them.

                        Twister3D:

That depends totally on how you land

Land Hard that fin won't matter, land on rough/uneven ground
it won't matter about the tail fin Those blades will touch the ground,
Or even tail 1st landing will get the blades as well...

Still waiting for a dam servo for my Twister 3D, dam servos give
                        in easy enough!

                          Hey Disc

My Servos have had broken Gears too, and at the slightest knock,
Dont but a whole servo tho, you can replace the little gears inside there only a few pence. it always seems to be the same one that breaks.
I went in nose first yesterday 2 gears went and the main shaft bent .

Where did you buy the servo gears my local shop says they cannot
get just the gears! I have put a Hi-Tex on the tail for now and put
the tail servo on the front.

Only way i'd get it flying again.
