  • Indoor heli to practise with...?

    Hi Guys,

I was at Skyline yesterday..they were setting up my Raptor for me :P

Anyway...this guy comes in with a briefcase like thing and pulls out a small electric heli and just uses it..seemed good to hovver practise etc..so now.....I wondered if that would be any good for me to practise with indoors etc... and what a good one costs?

    Cheers chaps

    Mike

Good one will cost 500!! you can get one of the ones with twin rotas for 200 which are ok - small electrics that come ready to fly for under 200 are impossible for beginners to fly.

Stay away from the one with the metal case. It's a MiniCopter V2 i had one it was rubbish!

I traded it for a Hirobo Lama XRB it costs new 285 and is excellent for flying indoors. Goto ModelZone in Brighton for one!

the bell has been having some quality control issues. All of the really cheap ones are cheap for a reason....

I had 3 Twister Bells they all had various problems.

There is a new one that SMC had in last week can't remember it's name but I had a quick go and it seemed quite good for around 100, more powerful than the Twister as well

I started with a hummingbird FP. It taught me to hover. I tried the lama and found it was fun but wasn't going to teach me anything new and the price did not justify the purchase. I decided to get a twister bell for my daughter. It was unflyable, so I took it back and got another hummingbird. I found out later that the version 2 twisters had problems with the 5-in-one box. I don't know if they have been sorted out yet.

That helicopter in the metal case was probably a Trex 450. Basically a mini raptor and capable of both indoor and outdoor flight. You can get various versions from the basic plastic airframe to a full blown eCCPM blinged up model. They do fly well.

Although the t-rex does come in a metal case when you buy it, (un-assembled) once you build it, it doesnt fit in the case anymore. The case it comes in is only really good for storing spares etc once you have built the heli. Hope all that made sense!

Have to disagree with that, every weekend after a day's flying my Trex would fit in it's case, well, all the bits anyway.

Actually, its funny you should say that. After every time I have tried to fly my t-rex, it fits back in the case too. Especially once the boom is bent 180 degrees etc! lol Bloody thing. I will sucessfully fly it one day!

Yes, the one that comes with the kit is a touch on the small side. However, you can buy a case to keep the model in for a mere 59.00. I tend to carry mine around in a plastic box.
