  • Newbie flyer & new radio - Have I got the right one??

    Hi Everyone
I have recently bought a Futaba FF7 online from Inwood Models (good, quick service BTW). The box that arrived says: "7CAP/7CHP" on it but the radio says "T7CP" and next to that "Computerized Airplane System".

The menu appears to have a Heli setting, the idle up is on the top on the left and it's the correct mode (albeit with a ratchet on the throttle). I'm a bit confused to say the least :? Have I got the right radio for Heli flying?

Thanks for your help guys (again!!)

    Hi

    Yep, same as mine.

The separate Airplace 'CAP' and Helicopter 'CHP' versions are only available in the states I believe.

The UK has the T7CP which works for both Heli and Airplane.

Only difference between the CAP and CHP that I can see is the switch layout as both offer collective for Pitch and Throttle according to the instructions.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

You can remove the ratchet feel. Simply unscrew the back of the control and you will see a thin piece of metal on the ratchet, unscrew this and turn it around the screw back in.

I hope that makes sense. If not you will see what i mean when you take the cover off the tx.

          Hi
Thanks for all the replys. It was a good price (99.99) and I thought I may have brought the wrong one.
Thanks for that Brashhighlander... it makes perfect sense when you take the covers off.
          Cheers

                Raptor?????

Credit me with some taste, I like the good looking Heli's

The close call refers to when, in my early days of flying, the Shuttle pitched up due to a change of wind direction (180 degrees) and flew straight back at me. I ducked and dived to the left. Luckily the Heli gained enough altitude to miss me and I landed it and went home for some new trousers.

It sounds like good reactions saved you from picking out main blade splinters from various parts of your anatomy  - Good going for landing it afterwards!

I like to think that it was skill and judgement that saved me but it was blind luck.

When I turned around I was expecting to see a big mess on the ground. However, the Shuttle had gained enough altitude to give me time to compose myself.

I was always told when I started out that altitude is a saving grace. It can also be a big sod when descending too fast

I was also told if you lose orientation and all else fails push both sticks forward. This way the Heli will climb and give time for composure.

Never needed to try that but I suppose it could work.

                    Cheers
