  • Boom strike?

    Hi guys,
Seen references on the forum to 'boom strikes', and think i had one with my mini titan after a somewhat hurried landing. But what exactly causes this to happen, and are there any ways to reduce/stop it happening, other than not flying like a gimp?!
    Cheers.

If you bend you blades back in their grips and then rotate the head you'll see how a boom strike happens. With backwards elevator they hit the boom.
    Happy Landings.

A normal strike happens as the headspeed decays in autos the blades are no longer held out straight by centrepetal force and are able as Dave says above to bend back in the blade holder reducing the distance between the tip of the blade and the tail boom. Check your blade fixings for tightness they shouldn't be able to turn under their own weight in the grips.
