Wayne that's not the first time you have responded with a useless post regarding mode 1.

Just remember there are choices and several pilots from novices to sponsored pilots use both.

        Think about it.

Quite agree, I learnt to fly with the Harrogate club in 1978, fixed wing only in those days and we were all Mode 1, now I fly heli's as well still Mode 1. With fixed wing there is a lot to be gained from flying split primary functions, ask Hanno Pretner and Wolfgang Matt, both Mode 1 fliers and world champions!!!!!!!!

Sorry guys, I was only comically expressing my PPOV with wording and with the use of similes, but I can assure you all I've given myself a good ticking off

I think which mode you end up flying is dependant on what is prevelant at the club you fly at.

certainly where I fly its 90% mode 2

dont think this has been said yet for you billy but with mode 1 you have the throttle and aileron on the righthand stick and the rudder and elevator on the left, in mode 2 you have the throttle and rudder on the left and aileron and elevator on the right.
In mode 2 therefore all of your cyclic controls are on one stick. But in mode one they are split, whether this is an advantage or not is up for debate as can bee seen by the thread
                  All the best

I fly heli's mode 1, tried to convert to mode 2 but alas the brain wouldn't take it after 8 years flying planks . Go with what your happy with... The club I fly at is mode 2 on heli's and I'm a great source of amusement being mode 1 as you could imagine. Do agree with the comment on clubs certainly does help for set ups, test flights etc.

                      Mode 1 is for deviants.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I'm a newbie and I've choosen mode 2 because I think it is simpler to have all cyclic controls on one stick ...and in mode 2 they are on the right stick like on the real helicopters!

OK but seriously if I at some point brought a cheapo RTF Plank to have a bit of fun with, would staying with Mode 2 be the best course, as I always fly the Planks on Phoenix with the Throttle on the left hand side?

I'm not sure but if someone was left handed wouldn't mode 1 be more "the norm" as mode two to a right handed person?
