    I would say:

    Normal Mode : 1500 - 1550
    Idle 1 : 1650-1700
    Idle 2 : 1850
    Cheers

Thanks stuart... would i adjust headspeed with the throttle curve or the needle on the carb?

          anywhere around 1600-1900rpm

I run a governor and dont fly in normal mode at all so gov is off in normal, slow headpseed in idleup 1 and high headspeed in idle up 2

its worth experimenting with different headspeeds to see how it suits your flying. Also there is no point running 1900rpm if your just doing circuits thats just wasting fuel but you do want it faster than 1600.

a governor such as the rev-lock (45ukp) makes these things a lot easier.

I found mine "wobbled" at less than that, mind you it's a long time since it saw any air

Hi quite new to flying and just starting on basic aerobatics. Just switched to Raptor 50V2 with a Futaba GV-1. Could anyone pls advice on whatthe head speed should be normal/Idle1/Idle2.
              Thanks,

it depends which motor you have and personal preference.

if you have a hyper then somewhere 1600 for idleup 1 and 2000 for idleup 2. If your running wooden blades you should run no more than 1750.

Wow, 2000. Ive just bought a Raptor 90 SE with the OS 91 C-spec and the head speed at mid stick hover was 1200, sounds like I have it set up wrong but it virtually sits there on its own.
Some people say I shouldnt be learning with a 90 but today was my first time out with the 90 and I felt as though Id been flying it months it was that much easier than the 30 to control.

I cant get my head round throttle curves & pitch curves at the moment so Ive just bought a CSM RevLock 10, I understand I can then just leave the settings at 0 25 50 75 100 like I have now and the revlock will do the rest for me.
                  Bet I'm wrong.

90 really needs the 91 tooth main gear and 11 tooth pinion to run really nicely. Use the rev-lock to set the engine speed to 15000rpm which will give you just over 1800rpm on the head.

obviously for stooging around theres no need to run 1800rpm but thats where the peak power is.

I have a revlock fitted now and its set to 1500, how do I tell what gears Im running?
Are they colour coded or do I need to count the teeth. The two big gears are grey and red.

the standard grey main gear is 93 teeth and i think is marked on its top surface. Pinion is a case of counting the teeth.

Now the revlock is set to 1500 Im finding the 90 harder to control, it goes up and comes down to fast for my level of skill, the main gear has 95 teeth and the pinion has 11, what does this give me at the blades?

1500 if that is what the revlock is set to...

                              sure its 95?

if it is 95 then you are doing 1730rpm.

thats not much. shouldnt be too sharp. what servo are you using on the collective?
