Buy phoenix for sure!!! Its is seriously unbelievable how much this helps!! I promise you wont regret it...

As for the indoor heli, I bought a cx2 and I personally think its too big for FF unless your living room is huge with nothing in it.

Ive learnt the sticks with the CX2 but am restricted - I'd look at the McX unless you have lots of space. The CX2 is no good outside, I tried mine and the wind took it away.

I also have a DX7 - If you can afford to get the DX7, Phoenix and the MCX i think you will have a great start. The CX2 controller does work on Phoenix but you dont have the option for idle up AFAIK.

But definately get phoenix - even if you only use it once a week, itll be worth it.

until a few weeks ago we used to recomend the cx2 as the perfect starter heli!! now suddenly the mcx is here the cx is too big for a living room.what changed??
nothing!! the mcx is ultra stable and really only usable indoors it will even do figure 8s in the back of a focus est,a fantastic starter heli. but will be quickly outgrown for people wishing to advance with the hobbie
the cx2 is bigger yes! but it can be flown in a small room maybe not flat out f/f but it can do circuits etc to say its to big to fly in aliving room is quite frankly rubbish! sorry but it is!! its harder to fly than the mcx as its less stable and so beginners will get a bit more longevity out of it

another point the cx2 tx can be used with phoenix. the mcx controller cant so going the bind and fly route and buying a dx6i works out more expensive

just a few more points to be concidered

        Get a Blade mCX - theyre so bloomin fantastic it's unreal - and a bargain at £89 with a 2.4Ghz interference-less transmitter.

For £89 odd it will be a great introduction and once your used to flying it around with no crashes you know you are ready to move on to a bigger proper heli.

If you spend £300+ on a SRB Quark then I will have to call the men in white suits!!! It may be the best fixed pitch heli for beginneers but its so hideously overpriced as to be totally insane.

While I agree that the CX2 can indeed be flown indoors, I know I quicky run out of space. I feel it is better suited for hovering and learning orientation in the house, but far more fun outside on calm days. I would be interested to hear opinions from other CX2 flyers.

agree with the above my CX2 in my "small" dinning room and lounge, (I'm no expert) each flight is one batts worth with edited fliming, I usually get about 10mins per batt flying like this,

Well I have both the mCX and the CX2 and Boggy is right, both can be flown indoors without too many problems. I tend to fly the mCX more inside as you can fly from room to room - Flying the CX2 through a doorway can be a bit hairy- but maybe that's just my flying skills!! I got the CX2 first but don';t really fly it much now - only at our indoor club...

Neither really prepare you for the CP experience as they're both much easier, although it does help with orientation a bit. I would probably go with the mCX and Phoenix (I know you don't want a sim, but there aren't many here that don't have one) The sim allows you to "try" lots of different helis in any weather with no crash expense. The mCX won't teach you a great deal, but is great fun - think of the "gadget shop heli" but with full manoeverability!! Also, it won't damage anything (or even itself) if you do crash it!

              Hope this helps

Just bought an mCX and it is definately more fun to fly indoors than the CX2. It can also be used with the CX2 TX so saved a little by buying the 'bind n fly' pack. This baby flys so well, which is incredible when you consider its size.
