  • Beginners nitro helicopter help please

    First of all HELLO
Im mainly into rc cars, but i very much love my real car...
    anyways...

Im looking at buying my first helicopter.
Im set on a nitro one, i dont like electric rcs, ive got plenty of cars and a boat, so thought id add a heli to the collection.

What would you recommend as a good beginner helicopter, that can then be used towards an intermediate level.

Im looking for a 4 channel, and must be nitro. preferably second hand as i dont have an aweful lot to spend on one, and im guessing ill crash it a few times so spares are fairly important too.

Ive seen a couple on ebay:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=170286437931

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=200286980400

The second one i can see going for a fair bit so probably looking mainly at the first one there.

Just wanted to know if spares are readily available for those, and are they good to learn with?

If not can you recommend any other helis i could look at?

you'll struggle to get spares for the concept there about extinct now and you'll need a minimum of a 6 channel tx and rx

Heya and welcome to the madhouse lol... As for those heli's .. You wont go wrong with a Raptor as they are very forgiving and also quite easy to learn on ... You have to remember its not just a heli tho as you will need all the field stuff to go with it .... I have a kyosho heli .. TBH its in my attic hehe ... Raptor spares are widely available so personally I would go with the Rappy as a first nitro heli if thats the way you want to go ....and like Lee said ,..... min 6 channel radio ....

        ah right ok...
im looking at getting a full setup ready to fly for a maximum of 200 pounds.
that includes everything transmitter, rx servos, etc etc

ive seen a few raptors about on the net and they seem to sell for around the 200 mark. Ill pass on the koyosho then, it doesnt come with a controller either so probably not the best buy.

Will have to search forums and what not for a raptor

I bought a Raptor 30 from a guy on this forum earlier this year, never flown and engine never ran, came with radio gear, but no gyro, paid 150 for it, added a CSM180 gyro, for about £30ish, and been flying all summer, cheapest heli I've had. So there is cheap stuff around, but be choosy and check it out before you buy if poss!
                    regards

Hey, where d'you learn to fly? I saw you shoot your rocket
                    up.............. into the sky.

Hey, I heard you set the pace, I never thought I'd see you back................ in this old place!

...good luck, just remember that the initial purchase is just the tip of the iceberg. You'll need club membership, fuel, spares, tools, etc etc etc...
