  • Aaargh, crashed it!

Managed to get a bit of hovering in today with my new mini titan, during a break at work. Starting to get the feel of it a bit more, moving it around the field a bit, until it started to get away from me a bit. Time to land i thought, not wanting to push my luck at this stage. So down it comes, nice and smooth, straight into a barbed wire fence! It looked like the heli just exploded as the blades hit, pieces of it went everywhere, i was less than amused! Inspection reveals it needs blades, tail boom, mainshaft, and a new training gear, so not as bad as i was expecting really. I was just concentrating so hard on the heli, i didnt even see the bloody fence. Still, the first crash had to happen sooner or later i guess......

That's a real pity. The mini titan is a lovely looking heli.

        First crash over with sadly.

Re-build and get it in the air again, You will be gutted about this but build and forget is the motto.

Unlucky mate. But it happens to most of us at some point. Dont let it get you down, get the spares, rebuild and get back in the air. You will soon reap the rewards that flying an RC heli gives.

Thanks guys, just ordered some spares from fastlads, so hopefully back in the air asap. Annoying that i wont be able to fly at the weekend though, i was hoping to keep up the practicing. Away from any f***ing fences!

It gets you every time you crash

But, that is the learning curve and part of this (expensive) hobby.

Put it back together & get back out there. Sorry about your day.

Next flight will be more cautious but more aware of fences

Oh man, you haven't lived! My mini pred has:
                      • Landed upside down in a bush,
                      • Smashed in to scaffolding,
                      • Pruned trees - exactly how does a 3mm thick wooden blade cut through a 10mm thick branch and remain broadly unscathed?
For me it's the double-thump that does it: that sickeninig crunch as you hit something above ground level, followed shortly afterwards by that inevitable secondary crunch as the crippled heli hits the ground for a second round of damage. Keep the power on for half a second or so and you can get a final burst of thump, thump, thump, thum...

I think i'll only fly right out in the open now! As for the damage, both my main blades just disintegrated, a wooden blade at a fair speed doesnt cut through a strand of wire fence! And the carbon boom supports and training gear legs are just gone, only found a few bits a few mm long in the grass. All chopped up in a big cloud of wood and carbon dust.

I agree with MadetoFade's quote but would also suggest as soon as you can repeat order so you keep spares and you will have time to shop for better prices.
                          Good luck for next time.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.
