  • Buzzing rudder servo

    Hi all,

Dont forget im a begginer !!!

I'm trying to set up my raptor 30 V2 using the advice on the RaptorTecnique web site, however when i turn the heli on the tail mounted servo(futaba 9253) starts to buzz constantly and dont feel this is right.

Could it be something to do with the gyro(futaba GY401) ?

The web site states to that the gyro should start up in heading hold and to test this move the stick to the right then back to center the servo should stay to the right, if not then reverse ch5 ,i tryed this but it doesnt make a difference. ??????

    Any help would be apprieciated.

    Cheers Duzie.

    1/ All digital servos buzz
2/ Are you saying that when you reverse the channel it still goes the same way or that it does nothing?

Don't worry that's what they do when you have a digital servo hooked up to a 401, the servo is mking fine ajustments from the signal sent from the gyro, if you switched off DS the noise would stop but then you would loose the benifit and performance of having a 60+ servo.

If you move the tail to the left the gyro should angle the tail blades to that the leading edge is pointing to the right so that it pulls the tail to the right, get it to do that first using the DIR switch on the gyro.

Next, when you move the rudder stick left, you want the tail to swing right hence the leading edge of the tail blade should point to the right, reverse the rudder switch on the TX if yo uhave to.

Does that make sense?, oh and when you switch on the heli don't move it untill the red light on the gyro stays on and stops flashing.

          Start the setup from scratch.

          1. Disconnect the servo from the gyro and plug it directly into the receiver.
          2. Centre the stick and manually adjust the tail blades so that you have approx 6-8 degrees of right rudder. (leading edge of the blades point to the left)
          3. Move the stick left and right, check the rudder direction and correct if required.
          4. Switch off, reconnect the servo to the gyro. Switch on and test by rotating the model and watching the rudder. If it needs reversing use the direction switch on the gyro.

theres no need to unplug the servo, just switch the gyro into normal mode and you get the same thing.

Also on raptors which dont have the most powerful tail in the world I tune the push rod length and limit value to give full travel of the tail pitch slider.
