    hello,
I looked over the sticky for getting started in heli and i liked it but i have a few question i have flown r/c airplanes before and i have a mirco r/c heli i play with in the house it's not but i got bored with it and i looking for the best advice for getting a ele. heli i learing on the realflight g4.5 but with so many types to choose from it's super confusion ..lol like my spelling . i've been learning with the impala .30 i know that is nitro but what would be the ele model to this . not the one's with the fixed tail the people at the local hobby shop were not much help and they told me there was no flying clubs around me , but i went to ama and found two local ones i think the two clubs are down for the winter and i want to play with somthing when i'm ready untill that point i will stick with my sim. since most of ya'll prop have both the sim and the real thing is it real different or just about the same minus the reset button lol? ok but back to the org. question can i have some ideas of training elc.heli's different views would be great .
    thanks in advance

Heya and welcome the the nuthouse ...I hope you have an understanding partner as well getting into this hobby lol ...TBH you are better off going to the local club and seeing what they fly as that way you can always find help with repairs/building said model ...Any nice 50 size nitro will do ya well .. You cant go wrong with a trusty ole Raptor, tbh Bypass the 30 and go straight for a 50 as these machines will progress with you upto a certain point .....I know a few that have learnt on Align 600's and other machines ...thats the nitro ones ...

Elec ones theres a whole host of makers out there now from 450's to 500's ... It all depends on how much you want to spend on the model and batteries .. Like most will pipe up .. you wont go wrong with a Align 450SE v2 and parts are cheap for them and in ready supply as well ...

Hope some of this helps as theres that much that you cant really cover with a few posts ...

      Hi Gary,
I recommend to start on sim and only when total confident with each step then try the same outdoor (or indoor with EP heli). I did it this way and it worked for me well with almost no crashes at all (once ignored tx batt warning). It is almost the same on the good sims (rfg, phoenix, xtr, not pc games like fms, pre-flight) and in the reality - except the reset button like you said :-)
      - start it nose out - just get the heli a few inches up and hold it always nose out and learn to move it around - like jumping from the one point to the another one and back (while nose is out all the time), start to jump to 50cm or so and the further distances next, use the training undercarriage
//when you can move it around to any place while talking with others on the field while fying, go to the next step
      - try to hover it (nose out) as long time as possible in the air (=not hitting the ground), plus-minus one meter is the usual at the beginning, ending with a few centimeters, try to go higher (2-3 meters) later
//when you can hover it for the whole battery, go further
      - try to hover it more and more turned both left and right and nose in too
//when you can hover it in any position, go further
      - now start to do the eights - move it left (nose left) and make the right turn at the left edge, let it flight to the right and at the edge make the left turn etc., flight faster and faster, use roll and rudder to make turns until you can flight 8s at fff - if you can flight 8s with no problem while talking to others on the field (nothing can disturb you, like driving the car), get rid of the training gear and progress to the stall turns, loops,,,,

On RFG4 sim start with the Impala 30 (no problem) and when learned each step then switch to the Dominion 90 - you should be able to control it at idle2 too (do not go further nor outdoor until you can do the same with dominion 90 too!). Or just use Dominion 90 only or some small EP copter like Protos (their reactions are instant, just like yours skills should be to control both of them).
