  • GY401 set up with Mini Titan/DX6I?

    Hi guys,
Managed to hover my Mini titan for the first time today, but im not sure i have the gyro set up at all well. I have a GY401, and to be honest i dont really understand the manual/set up guide very well, and i feel well out of my depth with it all! Can anyone advise me of how to achieve a suitable set up for a beginner, just hovering and flying circuits etc? I am using a standard Mini Titan, standard motor and ESC as supplied with the kit, Gy401 gyro with HS56 servos on tail and cyclics, and a Dx6I transmitter. I know im probably being a bit thick, but i'd rather ask for help than stuff the heli because ive done something wrong!
    Cheers.

First off... how far out are you on the tail servo horn? How far from the centre of the servo is the ball mounted? Mines mounted about 6mm. Also are you using the gear channel or the gyro menu on the TX? Its easier to use the gear channel IMO. What ya do is use the travel adjust/end points on the gear channel to adjust your gyro gain.
    Cheers

fisrt thing an hs56 is not really a tail servo, be advised to upgrade to 9257 or 9650 digital servos or there is some other makes available which im not so sure about.

what are you stuck on regarding the instructions for the 401 gyro
If You Cant Dazzle' Em With Brilliance, Baffle' Em With emmmm you know the rest

List of useful stuff on that link.
These 2 vids for gy401 setup, it will be similar to the 401 dx7 setup:-

              http://video.helifreak.com/?subpath=...=tailsetup.wmv
Cant go wrong if ya follow them just adapt for your heli/TX. Very easy to do.
              Cheers

                Hi Lee,
Ball on servo is 10.5 mm from centre, as advised in the mini titan build manual. Im using the gyro menu on the TX, didnt even know i could use the gear one!? I set the gain in the gyro menu at 49% for rate mode (whatever that is) and i think 65% to get HH mode. just clutching at straws really! Tail rotor looks to have a couple of degrees of pitch to the right with servo arm at 90 degrees. Had to keep a touch of left rudder in to hover straight in rate/normal mode, and tail a bit twitchy in HH mode.

10.5mm is far to big mate (hell im not much more on my trex 600 or raptor lol), go in a hole or 2. As i say mines at 6mm ish but im running a Futaba 9257 which is dramatically diffrent to your HS56. Dont go off the manual. They specialise in the helicopter build not how to get it flying well or gyro setup lol. You want to be between 80 - 100% on the little pot on the top of the gyro for your limits. So find an arm/hole that gets that for ya. Watch those links above, follow them and ya cant go wrong mate.
                    Cheers

I agree with Kevin I use the 401 with 9650.
I have mine setup so the so that the tail linkage rod runs parallel with the boom then connect to servo horn.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.
