bad luck all round

Hey guys how it going.

So i thought id check out the net 4 sum help.

I bought a belt cp 3 weeks ago and have only had bout 20 seconds flight!!!
The day i got i waited 4 the battery to charge all excited like a kid at x-mas.
WOO HOO green light! but i plugged the battery on chopper b4 turning on remote (mistake 1) heli had a spaz and spun up in the lounge, blades hit couch and main gear is shed. 3 day wait 4 part.

of course my heli came with a pre stripped hex head screw 4 main gear so i had to take entire thing apart 2 to get at gear, put it all back together but got tail belt twisted. (mistake 2) no points 4 guessing that it was rather indecisive bout witch way it wanted to go and had a bad landing, (bent boom and broken tail suports) 3 day wait.

got new boom and supports spent ages trying to get it lifting up straight adjusting things only to find front servo was not working. 3 day wait.

got new servo and actually got it off the ground but b4 i could try trimming anything a rouge wind introduced it to a steel container at work, dont fly in wind (mistake 3) 3 day wait 4 flybar holder.

So i get flybar holder AND buy a tiger training kit thinking it will help and it did, kinda. put it all back together, get blades traking wonderfully and just tried to get it cumming up straight and i was gettn there, little hover, quick trim, hover again. Then for some reason when i was hovering bout 50mm off ground (heli was not perfectly still but i was slowly tweaking it right) i cut throttle and the blades sumhow hit boom when it came down. it took the laminate off blades so i replaced them, now when i spin it up it just shakes like a nervous long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Y? tracked blades properly, main shaft no visibly bent. HELP please. I know its a bit of a life story but i just wanted to get it out there and was wondering if anybody else had problems like this?

I had a similar experience with my Blade 400. A couple of things to try...

1. Even though the main shaft/feathering spindle looks OK, it may well be bent - I've replaced 7 or 8 now since the end of September and a couple look OK but cause bad vibrations.

2. Check the pitch settings on your transmitter. A boom strike often means you have too much negative pitch when the throttle is set to zero.

3. Have a look at http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html I would have found this very useful in the beginning

If all opf this means nothing, post again and I'll try to add some detail!

Welcome to the forum mate dont be dispondant sounds like me 6 months ago but now finally i can hover my beam yipee

as for your shakes try a strong vodka lol no seriously check your feathering shaft the way to do this is take the main blades out look down the blade grips towards the centre hub you will see an allen key put an allen key in it and turn it by hand look for any off centre movement in the blade grips as you turn it ie up down left right

if this is ok i would take another look at the main shaft

Welcome to the forum bud.

The easiest way to check your feathering shaft is to remove one blade and twist the shaft with a 5.5mm socket. If the remaining blade tip moves the shaft is bent and needs replacing.

If that's OK, then balance the blades first. (You will need a blade balancer for this, or clamp the two blades together with a long bolt and balance between two beer glasses). Those Esky blades often are not balanced and could well be the cause of your vibration.

Keep at it matey, this hobby is soooo rewarding for those who persevere, and there's always plenty of help from those on here.

The belt does have a tendancy to shake at about 30% throttle on spin up.... As soon as you get above this it stops... (I imagine you are spooling up quite slowly now)

Keep at it and google Radds flight school (I think) that will help with learning enormously!

I agree with all of the above and can sympathise with the long waits for parts. Try spinning up with blades removed to see if the shakes go away. If they're still there check out your flybar for symmetry. Also check tail components for shake and remove them to isolate the problem if poss. Finally add the main blades and check that they are at equal pitch settings relative to the flybar - if one is down on the other this will cause shake. Adjust as necessary and as mentioned above avoid too much neg pitch at this time because if you "drop" the model from some height by closing the throttle you'll have the inertia of the blades coming down plus the negtive lift they'll be generating meaning that a tail strike is highly likely. I'd aim for no more than -3 degrees neg pitch, perhaps a little less.

And Si means the tail blades as well as the mains. If you don't, the thing will go mad spinning round and round.
