  • Throttle and Pitch curves

    Hi everyone.

I am relatively new to heli flying (Shuttle) and have an RD8000 Sanwa radio and my Thottle and Pitch curves are normally set to the default setting ie 100 - 75 - 50 - 25 and 0. However, recently I have had to increase the Hover throttle and Pitch settings due weather conditions and I have noticed that when I do so, all the other curve settings change at the same time. All I want to do is alter the Hover settings at mid stick level leaving the other settings as they are and I would like to know if this is normal or whether there is something wrong with my radio? Any response will be appreciated.

    hi rapporman,
i am not familiar with the sanwa radio i iuse a futaba 9 cap,my radio has two knobs that enable you to alter hovering pitch and throttle without having to go into the menu, have a good read of your manual yours may have the same,
    regards
just looked at the manual for the rd6000 and in heli mode it has what looks like a thumb wheel either side of the screen that does what you require, is the rd 8000 not similar.
    flying better all the time

leave the pitch curve default and adjust the throttle curve values. Not sure why your other values are changing, very strange.

I am not a fan of the hover throttle/pitch nobs just not required these days.

I guess they have become unused as at mid stick pitch is usually set to 0 degrees. The hover pitch adjustment changes the pitch at the mid stick position so would not be used.

Of course I could be wrong, and it does depend how you set up your stick position to pitch curves (i.e. hover at mid stick or 0 pitch at mid stick)

            Throttle and Pitch curve

Thanks all of you. The RD8000 does have sliders for adjusting both Hover Throttle and Hover Pitch curves during flight, presumeably to save me having to land and go into the main menu but as I say, when I do all the other curve settings get adjusted proportionally. Although I am able to land and go into the main menu and change just the Hover or Pitch curve without the other settings being affected, I am just curious to know why when I use the the 'in flight' sliders, the other settings get altered.

I know this is no big deal and does not affect my flying but I am just curious to know why using the sliders (presumeably equivalent to the knobs you refer to ) should alter the settings whereas the menu route does'nt.
