  • Piccolo FP!

Well I decided to get a more capable Heli than my Twister Bell 47 to contunue my learning experience with some nice forward flight etc.

I decided on the Piccolo FP because out of all of the FP micros it seems the most well rounded. Direct drive tail as standard, adjustable main blade pitch, and quite a few upgrades available for it.

Its on order now - cant wait to get it. I have ordered it in kit form, so I get to build it. I am specifying all of the electronics myself.

    So far we have:

Piccolo FP stock with brushed motors
Hitec HFS-04MG 4 channel micro reciever
    Hitec HS55 Micro Servos
    Futaba GY-240 Heading Hold Gyro
Brushed ESC for main - Micro Blue Arrow PP-10 (High frequency 10 amp, 1024 step)
Brushed ESC for tail - Micro Blue Arrow PP-5 (High Frequency 5 amp, 1024 step)

I will be using the 7.4v Lipo that came with my twister bell to perform initial testing. Then I will probably make up some 9.6v NIMH packs.

Cant wait to get it built and flying!

Cos its a nice little heli
Mine was a joy to fly once I cracked it - easy to fix & ok the spares aren't cheap and I wouldn't give Ikarus the time of day now - but its still a nice little heli 8)
I had Delrin landing gear on mine and that helps it bounce pretty good too!!
Plus a nice set of 'V' cut carbon main blades which take loads of punishment.
Hope you have fun with it :P

Just ignore Chappers, he thinks the Twister Bell 47 is a quality heli :P

I still have a brushless FP Pic, not flown it for a while but it flys OK for an FP

sorry the piccolo isnt a step on

at best its a step sideways at worst its backwards.

The smallest step forward I would take is going to be a T-rex and if you dont have one already a simulator.

but for not a lot more money your looking at at a 30.

Sorry that comment wasn't supposed to be a factual account, it was pretty tongue in cheek hence the smilies

I only have a fp micro heli..and was going to step up to a zoom...however I have a lesson with Ade soon so have started saving for a beginner kit, something like the Century Hawk III or Robbe Moskito Basic that midland offer..

I read this forum to death I get the impression that once I have had a lesson my dragon fly is not going to satisfy me any more

Yes you can (sacrifices) give up Eating/Buying clothes / Heating the house /buying small cars.
You see I know Chappers and I've been to his house for coffee "Burrrr!" and the coffee was cold as well , don't think he has electric either.

hey, what do you mean "hand full" and "as much as a small car"

an XRB costs more than my car :-)

Another difference is an XRB wouldn't move with the same amount of mud as on Ade's car

                              She flies

Plenty of tweaking to do, and some weight saving to be had (due to stupidly long wires). But she flies had a few hovers in me bedroom.

I am real happy because i have sod all experience and i have managed to build this from a kit and get all of the electronics working together myself.

Its hugeley more difficult to fly than the Twister Bell 47! I would say something like 20x harder.

Whoo i like a steep learning curve
