  • Honey Bee kING 2 - Small fire :(

hi guys, bit of help required.

After going to neils and getting my heli sorted and set up so it would actually fly, my speed controller smoked and burst into flames whilst hovering! I managed to disconnect the battery. The rest of the heli is fine, should i replace the parts with standard parts or upgrade to a brushless motor?

If i do upgrade will i need to chnage my speed controller and li-po batteries?

And if i have to change batteries do i have to change charger?

    Any help would be appreciated

    thanks

        Hi Mate,
I fried 2 before giving up. Get the brushless upgrade.
I did find the problem though, the belt was coming off the LH roller and causing extra load on the motor so keep an eye on it.
There is plenty of info on how to make sure it doesnt jump off.
I just used one of the brushed motor washers and put it above the roller but off centre so when you tighten the screw the roller tilts inwards as it hangs down. The belt will always climb up the roller (to higher tension) and won't slip off the bottom (the same way a belt will stay centralised on a curved roller). ie tiled like this \ (looking from the back).
