  • RC Heli clubs in Essex / East London

    Hi All.
A newbie here,(OK, I admit it a 48 yr old newbie!!), trying to find details of any heli clubs in Essex. I have a sim, and would like to meet other heli people and learn stuff, before I rush out and start wasting money.

Any Admins reading this it might be a good idea to have a "club section" where people can give contact details and locations etc etc. Just an idea.

Anyway, can anyone advise of a club in Essex? I live in Hornchurch, near Romford.

    Thanks in advance.
    :cheers2:"Onwards and Upwards":cheers2:

There's Brentwood and Chelmsford for starters.

Chelmsford is based on the North West of Chelmsford near Writtle/Roxwell, it is full at the moment, but the joining night is coming up shortly.

You could drop Colin a PM on here about the Brentwood club, they have a heli only night on Thursdays when the light permits and fly out of the Brentwood Sports Club. More details here:

There are at least two other clubs as well, Tony (Sesame) flys at one near Southend and there are a few who fly at a club on a race course, which I think might be Marks Tey.

There was also talk of use of a field near Thurrock but I am not sure where that has got to.

CMFA great club, but little bit short on space. Does any know a good club for heli's with lots of space?? Near essex area? eg Watford / Ipswich?

There are a few places around Ipswich, a couple of clubs being

Orwel Model helicopter club, they are a training school and more geared towards beginners,

Raydon Model Aircraft club, but I think there full at the moment, but they fly all sorts from plans to heli's

Then there are the unoffical clubs around the Ipswich way, I personaly fly just outside Needham Market, you are welcom to come and see us flying there.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

            And a DX8 too

How much space do you need? LOL

Watford/Ipswich - Not to sure I would fancy a hours' drive each time I wanted to fly

Only problem is we're all shite flyers spending all day chatting, taking the P and drinking Rapt50's tea

                              Thanks all.
Bulphan is the closest to me, as I live in Hornchurch, so I may be making contact soon. At this stage I am after advice (apart from that which I am getting on here!)
So far I am at the sim stage, but can seem to fly Ok, with not too many crashes, but I know I am getting closer to the real thing, so now is the time to talk to people for advice/help/encouragement etc.

Thanks to Norman and madgooner for pointing out the west Essex club. I will need to find out when the meets happen. I work nights, so it will have to be a weekend.

                              Thanks again guys.
