  • T-Rex 600 Nitro Sport or Raptor 50SE?

Following on from my previous thread, asking whether to go with a nitro or electric 600, I've come down in favour of the nitro based mainly on the initial outlay required for a sufficient number of Lipo's and the extra 'stick time' I'm told I'll get with a nitro.
I'm now in a slight dilemma as my LHS has just taken in both a T-Rex 600 Nitro Sport and a Thunder Tiger Raptor V.2 50 SE. I don't want to start a flame war between supporters of the two but does anyone have any particular reason why I should buy one or the other?
As alway's any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

I would go the Trex route just due to the fact it is of a more modern design.
Both are proven and parts are cheep for both.
I myself bought a 600 sport as my first proper heli and never regreted it, if fact it is now in the hands of my 10 year old as his first nitro heli.

The sport is more capable id say but the Raptor is just stable and such a work horse. You'll have less problems with the Raptor IMO but id go with the sport as its a newer model lol. If its your first 50 size heli then you wouldnt go wrong at all with the good old raptor though. Id recommend a titan over an SE though. Love flying my Titan its just great fun/predictive and forgiving all in one.

of the 2 Id say Sport, the SE has alot of nice metal parts your gonna end up bending, which can get a little more expensive, if it were between sport and a titan or standard raptor 50 then might come down on the side of the raptor, they are stable easy to fly and bits and pieces are really cheep for them, plus people are selling them for silly money as more people are going for the 600.

Having said that either machine will serve you well in the long run.
          All the best
          Tony.

Raptor Titan here as well .. Love flying the thing and for day in day out abuse its loverlly ... Plus the screws aint made of cheese lol... Actually for a new person the Titan is a little easier to set up as its mechanical ccpm ... I like the fact that I use a stronger servo on the pitch than the rest of the heli and it works a treat.... Plus ya put a Titan next to a 600 and they look more agressive and larger as well ... Like most have said the 600 for spares prices cannot be beaten as you get 2 of everything .. Maybe if i was starting out again I might have gone the align route .. Who knows .. Pick what your lhs stocks bits for ....and what most people where your going to fly , fly as well as then you will get more advice along the way ..

...And it will need to be - I've just bought one second hand and, having flown it on Phoenix for a couple of hours I've discovered that I'm a c**p pilot!. Must have destroyed over £20,000 worth of virtual models and decapitated myself about 10 times. Now my wife is worried about me starting the ol' girl up for real, but I've assured her that ain't gonna happen until I've got my eyes, brain and fingers working in harmony!

Can't wait for the mini-pred spares to come through the post so that I can get some stick-time in on a familiar model!

Does'nt get much easier than flying a raptor 50 to be honest.

I would recommend the T Rex 600 ,its cheaper than the Raptor 50SE and is a higher spec,TBH you dont get a lot bling on the SE for the extra price, also parts will be cheaper with the Rex.

But the Raptor is a very well proven model so you certainly wont be going far wrong if you personally decide to go for one of them.

Either model would serve you well

Love it, I'm already in the dog house due to spending too much on RC stuff as it is, I can't really let the kids go hungry, can I?
Anyway i ended up buying the T Rex so thanks to everyone for their advice and at least you'll now know I won't be pestering you again with "Should I buy this one or that one?".
                          Thanks peeps.

I'd go for the 600N. Most of the Raptor 50 spares are still around double the cost of the 600N's so the 600N is cheaper to crash in most cases plus it's more modern and has greater potential, it can be set up mild to wild whereas you need to buy quite a few upgrades if you're going to 3D a Raptor 50.
