  • Transmitter/USB Sim Compatibility

I've decided to buy one of the top end PC based simulator's, rather than anymore heli's for now, but as I already have a decent transmitter I wondered if it was in any way compatible - i.e just to buy the sim software without an RC console?? It is a Max Computer model W6s-5sc (I think). Came with the big Kalt JR in this auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=290264507443

I feel the sim is the next logical step, as I plan to get a 46/50 size sometime next year and skip the 30. The E-flite Blade MCX will be a great addition to the sim as I am getting on very well with it (though by no means proficient with it!) Any help/advice appreciated!!

If you connect it to the PC and it detects it as a Joystick with axis you can use it with the following,

RealFlight G3, G3.5, G4 --- Dongle Emulation and Pass Trough

    ClearView RC

and some others, i was going to say Phoenix but im not 100% Sure

Many thanks - I take it I connect it to the PC/laptop via a JR USB lead??

Followed your link to the auction. The JR Tx you have is quite a few years old..I would guess 10 ish + . What you need to do is find someone on here with experience of elderly JR radios to check if it used the now standard DSC connection back then. Its a small connection similiar to a small phono jack...but not to be confused with the radio charge jack.

The Sims come with or you get an adapter lead from them that fits.

Phoenix is prob the best available simulator. It connects to the TX via the DSC socket through a small dongle to your PC/lappie via a USB.

Real Flight G4 again uses a USB to the PC but comes with an (Interlink controller..i.e its own TX)..It contains a pass through for using other TX's should you wish..the Interlink controller itself acts the dongle.

Phoenix runs well on lower end PC's and most lappies as long as they are a reasonable spec. G4 is very graphics intensive and requires a better system. IMHO Phoenix is the one to have at the mo. G4 is around £125-150 Phoenix £70-80

        hope that helps you..

Yeah tbh, I'd got my eye on either the Phoenix or the Reflex XTR V5 - haven't got the TX on hand so can't confirm connectivity functions! Hope someone can advise on this if poss!

The reason I missed out XTR is the latest versions poss require the Ivoli? TX thingy.

I've never use Reflex myself apart from tradestands at shows. Graphically its very good but am told it can be a nightmare to setup models and support can be sketchy..etc..

Phoenix the models as they come are reasonably close to what you can expect..RFG3.5/4/4.5 need a bit of time spent on them and the interface is complex and messy. Phoenix is very easy and streets ahead in that respect
