  • CX2 Battery Charger. What Do You Recommend?

I understand the charger that comes with the cx2 does not actually balance the batteries, and if true, this will cause problems in the future?
Although in the manual it says to only use the supplied charger, I'd have thought there must be a mains charger/balancer out there that is also safe to use?
    Any ideas gladly received....

    Thanks

My CX2 charger says "Balancing Charger" on it so I assume it balances the Lipos. Also, I asked Aid at Hobby Hangar about better chargers for the Blade 400 and he said the standard included one was fine...

Perhaps someone else can shed some light on why a different charger is better?

Hello heliTV, I thought the same as you until I read this http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=651534
You can see why I'm confused?

those cheap chargers that come with the helis charge each cell individually so in a certain respect do balance the batteries. However if one cell was to accept a charge faster than the rest the charger shuts off when A cell has reached its peak so in theory the other cell(s) could have less charge. But ime the standard chargers will be fine its when you start getting into big expensive lipos that you really need to be thinking of proper balancing

Here's the official line from Horizon UK

            Dear Graham

The charger that is supplied with the Blade CX2 is a balancing charger.

            Regards

I guess that means it balances the cells!

Mine didn't. I bought a balancing charger with LCD readout. My blade charger is ok for the odd charge. One charger's not enough anyway.

I've cycled all my CX2 batts through the 10S, they were well out of whack, but after a few cycles through the Cellpro 10 sorted them out.

For what you get with the BCX2 package is a bloody good deal, and the little Li Po chargers don't do a bad job for what they are, but don't expect too much from them.

Plus I found powering them from a 12V 12amp battery improved the charge performance a little.

Thanks for that info. It seems it might balance but not as good as it could be. The cx2 is great value though

                  Cheers
