  • heigh problem.

i found that when i was outside , my heli got caught by a gust of wind .
what should you do if it goes to about 40 feet high... and above concrete ... and nearing a thin tree branch?

if you cut the power then the heli would fall and break aot , if you tried to control it it would go into the branch which was swinging around menacingly or ypu could try and pilot it clear but if the 3rd option isn't available then what do you do?

If you can't get the heli down safely then always hit throttle hold.
This normally limits the damage sustained by the heli (and to anything else for that matter) as most of the energy is stored in the rotating blades.

im afraid there is not much you can do with a contra in that instance josh!

the best way is "prevention rather than cure"

if you must fly outside make sure its calm( even if you cant feel any wind thirty feet up it can be a lot different)so look at the tree tops to see if there moving in the breeze.

fly in as big an open area as you can find and as soon as the heli starts to drift reduce power gently to bring it down as soon as possible

if it does become stuck dont try to power it up as you found it will strip gears and can also very quickly damage the 4 in 1 unit

              Oops Sorry.
I was referring to something a bit meatier.
As Ron said the CX2 isn't really built for outside m8.
Your quite right about the expense.
I have all my e-mails of stuff I have bought online to do with helis and I dare not tot it all up as I would have a heart attack!

Contra Heli's' are the business for indoor fun, but I found when I started flying with my BCX2 that the slightest breeze is all it takes to find yourself in a world of hurt.

Typical scenario, she's getting higher and close to trees or buildings, you lower the throttle and she starts dropping like a stone, you add power and forward cyclic and she stays put in the air but continues to gain uncontrollable height.......See where this is going buddy.

As Ron rightly said, prevention is better then a cure, I've always said if you can light a tea-light candle place it on a table in the middle of your flying area and it doesn't blow out you can fly, if it does resist the urge to take her out.

If you've access to a Gym or hall like area available flying them is awesome, even then your find slight drafts bounce them about a little, but thats in a controlled space and adds excitement without the hazards of pure outdoor flying.

                Best of luck fella.
