Hi rookie! don't worry i'm a 49 year old big kid. On the Transmitter (TX)
there is two rotary switches. PLT & PZT. Set these to mid-way to start with. then turn the PZT one up a couple of marks if i still don't lift. if this dosn't do anthing. the factory setting are wrong. and the no8 Dip switch on th back of the TX will unlock the pre-settings. with the TX turned off swith the no8 switch to off. in fact all the other switches should be off (if it's like mine) you should noe have some joy with the controls. Don't over-do with the two knobs, as you will overload the motor and then it will overheat and cut out most likly at the wrong time. BIG, BIG disaster!!!
hope this helps.

Read this thread and would like to jump onboard here...
I too am a 41 year old big kid with first heli (Dragonfly 36), i have been doing all the initial indoor ground training and then progressed outdoor (with training gear) and have noticed some strange things..
It has been fine but now on throttling up the revs come up ok and then lift off but after a few seconds the max revs drop right off and not enough power to lift off again .If I close throttle and try again same happen rev s are fine for a few seconds then drop off again.
Since then I have been testing in a vice and now as the heli throttles up all is ok until she reaches near max stick position and then throttle cuts out all together . close throttle and re-open and same happens again ok until near max stick!!
Any thoughts please?
Thanks
Martin

Hi To everyone.
Can beat you all, 62 and Santa also brings a Dragonfly 36. I too find the booklet unreadable but the greatest thing learned so far is never try when the transmitter batteries are getting low. At almost full revs, indoors, grandkids watching, it would not shut down. Now with some deep cuts in our old Welsh sideboard, a slit cushion and foot as I raised my feet. Grandkids scattered to the four winds. It finally came to rest wrapped round in the Playstation and TV cables of which seemed of greater concern to the children.
The search for spares began and soon learned there are different types of dragonfly 36. Mine is the Dragonfly36Z. Identified by the flexible linkage of the Aileron turning parts and not as part 036-041 in the booklet.
Finally sourced these parts at ***************. An American company but parts have been shipped and arrived today taking only a week. Why does it take so long for a British company to stock spares?
On his gravestone was written, He tried but never flew.
Cheers John

Yet another newbie and yes if I'd have read all the info before buying one I might have changed my mind but ..... no better way than spending an afternoon trying to get this thing flying, someone on the forum once said flying one of these things is like trying to balance a ball bearing on a sheet of glass and how right they are !!! Got the basics sorted on the simulator but I was having trouble trying to get to grips with the controls and trying to trim the heli up at the same time in real life, so I took to a model shop to set it up and let me concentrate on the controls.
problem is: The model shop have managed to get this thing in the air but it shakes violently and they have to get it down, they have told me that they have adjusted the balanced the blades, adjusted the tracking and pitch and cannot see any obvious bends in the flybar or main bar, they have had it for a week and I'm picking it up Friday without the problem fixed. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem.
Any one local to me with a dragonfly or experienced flyers I'm in Barnsley, S Yorks ?

Got the heli back together with the shakes, the model shop reckons because off setting the tracking has reduced the vibration then it could be a bent main shaft ? now I have able to see it is vibrating the blades and the main gears below.
Anyone have any tips on how the get the main shaft out to check, looks to be lots of kit to remove to get to the part, any know the part number for ordering ?????
Tried to remove one of the ball links, these are very tight any tips on how to remove before I damage one ??
Thanks again for any help

hi Dazbat im new to this as well but i have removed the main shaft before
first i took the top of the rotor head off there is a screw about half way down the top plastic piece
second iremoved all the ball links from the swash plate i useds the gap inbetween an old pair of nail clippers to push the balls off slowly
third i unsrewed the small grub screws from the lower gear then using a pair of pliers i started turning the wire it holds ()this unscrews from the small black piece in the middle that actes like a pivot . it is threaded through the centre of that so you are unscrewing it) when it is done push the centre of it out with a small screwdriver that will release the collar
now pull the rod upwards with a pair of pliers dont squeeze too tightly it should come out pretty easily.
I was lucky i had an old piece of metal that fit very nicely down the centre of the main shaft . After i had removed it from the heli i helped it into the shaft with a hammer its now straight but ive ordered another one just to be safe
