Theres no reason you can't just buy the Sim and heli and skip the Contra route, only I found it helped me, that's all bro.
Well if you don't want to sponsor your LHS forget about those sub £200 machines.
The B400 is a complete system inc the DX6i and prices range from £260 upwards so do a little searching for the best deal.
Remember you'll need some spares and tools, some spare Feathering & Main shafts, a few pairs of main rotas, main gears, a couple of spare servos, a few extra batts, (we can come to that later, as the E-flite battery's price is rip off madness in the extreme, plus it's crap), and a better charger, again all things which can be discussed later.
Main thing is DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO FIRE UP YOUR MACHINE JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT! this has been the curse of many, I know it's tempting, but you have a ton of work to practice on and learn before you even power her up.
But its great fun so don't look at it as work, as Phoenix is powerfully addictive, and you'll have a blast, by all means lovingly stare at your new heli while you learn, but if the temptation starts to get the better of you give your misses the equipment to hide, as apart from anything else it's bloody dangerous not knowing what your doing mate.
