i have just bought a second hand heli together with all electrics
the tx is very old so have bought a new futaba 6exh ,

    Hi
Futaba and JR are not friendly compatable.....

Then it also becomes channels and a Futaba crystal wont work in JR
and JR wont work in Futaba.

As you have plumped for the Futaba Tranny i'd recomend you buy a
Futaba reciever and some crystals. PCM reciever is considered
safety wise the better option. (around 40-60 pounds) 6 channel
receiver required as a Min for Helis.

If you goto a local club before you choose the futaba channel crystals
and choose a channel no-one uses if possible. (total 12 pounds)

As for the JR gear 2 choices 1 sell as a job lot on ebay the tranny
and reciever. 2 take into the local model shop and see if they will
take part X against the futaba reiciever.

    What Heli do you buy?

Dibely, welcome to the sport. Its well worth joining the local club if you havent already. Nothing beats hands on help.

Disk they do talk to each other fine as long as you are using PPM. Its only PCM that is brand specific

the trick is to use xtals that match the equipment they are in. So if you have a JR rx you fit a JR xtal of the right frequency in it. Same goes for the tx, you use a futaba xtal of the same frequency as the one in the rx.

The channel order that the servos are pluged into the rx is different between JR and futaba so you may find you have to replumb the connections to the reciever.

there was a thread recently asking a similar question.
