  • Phoenix and FF7 settings

    Hi All,

I'm just starting out with a trex450, my FF7 is set up for that just fine.
Is there a way of using the same settings in Phoenix, i.e. plugging it in with the trex450 model selected on the tx?

So far I've had to set up a sim profile on the transmitter and then figure out all the settings in the 'your controls' options boxes in Phoenix.

I'm scratching my head, sure I've just missing something blatantly obvious but I can't see it at all.

Obviously the goal is to get the sim and real model matched for controls as best possible, but I'm poking in the dark a bit :/

Any tips would be appreciated ,
    Regards, Rob.

It's not a good idea to use your real model setup (transmitter) on the simulator, as the two will invariably be different, and you stand the chance of messing up your real heli's settings causing untold grief for yourself.

You should be able to simply select the FF7 setup in phoenix (it's a default transmitter setup) and go fly... hopefully!

    Cheers,

Dont think you can. You will have to create a new model memory in the Tx as Phoenix will not recognise 120 Swash mixing.

Once you have your Tx calibrated, you can alter the settings in the Tx and in the sim to create the same feeling (or as near as possible) to your model.

Yeh ya can use TRex settings on ya TX and then adjust the controls in the simulator. Make sure you do the advanced calibration though if ya do as with the Trex being CCPM then Phoenix will de-mix the ccpm settings in the sim. I wouldnt recommend it really though in case you accidentaly mess up your TX settings for the Trex. Far easier to just make a model dedicated for the sim and call it Phoenix on the TX. If ya get stuck giz a shout and ill send ya my settings from the T7CHP TX that im using.
        Cheers

Thanks guys, I've made a custom model on the transmitter as suggested, had a good fiddle about but I'm still not 100% sure. Simply selecting the Futuba transmitter from the Phoenix list didn't work really, I made a copy of it and started fiddling from there.
So Lee, it'd be great if you could send your settings so I know where I'm going.

            Many thanks,
            Rob.

Heres my settings on the Transmitter:-
Parameters - Type is H-1 and PPM Modulation
              D/R,Exp - 0/100% (defaults)
Subtrim and E.Point all set to 0 and 100/100 (default)
Reverse Menu everything is set to normal (default)
              Throttle curves:-
              Normal - 0,25,50,75,100 (default)
              Idleup 1 - 100,65,50,65,100
              Idleup 2 - 100,85,75,85,100
              Pitch curves:-
              Normal - 0,25,50,75,100 (default)
              Idleup 1 - 0,25,50,75,100 (default)
              Idleup 2 - 0,25,50,75,100 (default)
              Revo-Mix - INH
              Gyro - Up-A-70%, Dn-N-70%, Gyro - On, switch A, Mode GY.
              Hov-Thr - INH
              Hov-Pit - INH
Th-Hold - turn to OFF (will say ON when u hit the throttle hold switch) - leave everything to default settings of 0%.
Anything else not mentioned then leave them to TX defaults.

Heres some screen shots of the settings in Phoenix (obviously choose the T7CP TX settings and calibrate the transmitter first):-

In this picture you will see that my Futaba T7CP (FF7) is in the custom box. This is because after you have choosen the transmitter then you need to click edit on the right and reverse a few of the channels (this customises it). Leave all the channels set to normal in the TX under Reverse menu and just use the Phoenix software to reverse anything thats not working the correct way.

As you can see on this picture i had to reverse/invert the throttle, gear and collective pitch channels. You will also notice that in the inputs screen that it says Numpad1. Just ignore this because the throttle hold works off your throttle channel in the TX anyways. Obviously you'll be able to use Numpad1 also.

In this pic you can see i have reversed/inverted the left and right engines for fixed wing. You will also note im using 50% expo on the elevator and aileron channels. This gives me a smoother hover when im inverted. Change it to whatever suits you.

Just to double check go through the input settings on the right hand side and check there all set to the same as in all these pics.

Thats about every detail i can give ya really. The rest is just user preference in the sim itself.
              Cheers

Thanks guys, as long as yaz are all up and running now then i have accomplished my mission. At the end of the day those settings can be used in any TX, the only thing that will change really is the channels might have to be reversed diffrently in the sim. This can be done by simply flying a model and alter accordingly. I tend to leave as many settings to default in my TX and do all the adjusting in the sim. You can have flat line throttle curves if ya want and ive found it to be the same. Not sure if this has anything to do with the governor being on as default in most of the models. But because theres a governor then i dont think the sim is fussy about what curves you have programmed.
                        Cheers
