  • Hello all

    Hi everyone,

after a very long break im back and saving for a new heli. last flown a couple of years ago where with the help of a sim i was hovering my shuttle zxx with no problems (going at it alone)

well now im saving for a new set of kit and would like to know what you all think.

tt raptor 30 (i have a thing for little 30 sized helis lol)

os 32 or should i stick the 37 in there?

futaba 6 exp- 35 or the faast version? basic set i know but i dont need a million switches or dials lol.

gyro, hmmm would love a 611 but think funds with only push to a cheaper csm hh one, i do like csm though

tj pro or is the csm version better? only had a tj one before

    nhp razor main and tails

and a few bottles of cool power

oh and getting the sim back! hahahaha

so..... how does that sound?, was going to get another shuttle as i love em to pieces but think its time i moved on and got a newer design lol.

so hopefully ill have little lot soon and have it all ready to go next to my side while im sat looking out the window to all the rain! thank god for sims eh?

I've not flown the Rappy 30 but have seen it fly and it does seem a popular choice as a learner machine. Personally with a nitro I'd suggest a 7 channel tx, somebody told me 6 isn't enough for those nitro jobbies.

I'll be the first to say I'm still new to all this, and defo on the leccy route (don't have the place to work on nitros). But that can be my only suggestion from what ppl have said, a DX7 or similar 7ch tx.

and btw, welcome to the addiction.

      Addiction?!...tell me about it!

had more fancy bits on me old shuttle than i have had hot dinners! and i was only hovering! hahahahahahaha

and i wont even start on the alu case full of all those spare servos, cables etc etc you know the things you feel you might just need sometime but never do! lol.

but tis all gone! boo hoo, why did i ever sell up? gah!

oh well let the collection start again!

        Here's my two peneth worth.....

The Raptor 30 is a safe bet and a good all round heli

Go for an OS37 and stick an Hatori pipe on, sounds nice, good power and easy to tune.

Gyro - Stick with a GY401 for now with an 9254 on the tail, plenty around at the right price

TX - DX7, buy the complete kit, comes with TX RX and 4 x DS821 servo's which will do you for now

Blades - I would put some cheaper carbons on for now until you stop crashing as often!

I am sure others will disagree with my suggestions but i hope some will agree as well..!

ok os 37 it is! yeah had a zimmerman on the old shuttle but will go hatori this time around.

DX 7 you say, tbh i have not looked into this set, looks very jr right? i was a jr man with the shuttle but moved over to futaba with a ff9, awesome set but far to much to play with for a little beginner like me hahahaha

ok this is good, lots of thoughts and help, thankie guys

            Hi Mark,

I have a raptor 30 and love it I agree with Steve GY401 and S9254 excellent tail set up.

I am a futaba man so I would recomend the new FF7 2.4gb the kit comes 4S3152 digital servos. (hint santa)

so its a choice between the dx 7, futaba 6 exp (costs) or the ff7

and 2.4 is the way forward i take it?

                      Definitely 2.4 Ghz.
I like the DX7, but the FF7 2.4ghz is a nice radio too.

                      Choices choices
                      Cheers,

Right will be getting my kit soon, and maybe a engine to go with it.

so.....atm im watching a raptor 30 v1 2nd hand, very good spec, just needs tx to fly,

but, although i know its dated now i really really miss my little shuttle and keep coming back to the thought of getting a new plus 2 kit and a os 32 with tuned pipe. im a massive massive shuttle fan ! and all those fancy official parts from hirobo to make it the ultimate shuttle ever! lol

decided to give the throttle jockey a miss for now as i will learn to set proper pitch and throttle curves, spend the money on more fuel!

ok been doing even more thinking! hahaha

going to go with the 6 exp 2.4 for now as i know the rappy 30 is a better choice all round i just cant get a shuttle out of my head so............

                          im getting both! hahahaha

rappy will be my main flyer and the shuttle will be my bby and have all those nice haribo (jokes) parts fitted

so im watching that 2nd rappy 30 and then will get a nice new shuttle plus that i can work on when funds allow

                          and so it begins..............lol

If your gonna go with futaba ... I would spend the extra and get the FF7 2.4 .. alot nicer radio and not alot more money ... Will see you through this hobby ... unless you go scale mad then a 12 will lol ..... The 7 has more mixes a nicer throttle/pitch curve .. governer mode built in already ... and the screens alot nicer as well ....

Well if i get this 2nd hand rappy then ill only need a tx so could go for the ff7 and get the rx to make it 2.4 and sell the 35meg rx thats in the heli

                              sounds like a plan
