  • Training Skids - Free for Beginners

    Howdie,

One of the things which we almost all buy when setting out in this hobby is training skids. Be it for small electric or larger electric/nitro. Needless to say depending on how you progress will determine how long you need them for. Once they are off though, they just lie around in a corner never to be used again.

    Ok, so whats my point?

Simple, I have just wrapped up and will post tomrrow a set of 450 training skids for someone just starting out. I reckon it will cost me about £1.50 to send 1st Class. No charge to the recipient, but the deal is that they make a donatation to RCHeliaddict for an amount they deem fit... I reckon about £5 would be a fair amount.

When a newbie comes along and is after a set, they post a mesage on this thread, if anyone has a suitable set at home and are willing to do as i have done the same applies... No charge to the recipent for the skids, and they make a donation to the site.

Not only will this help out the site for a ££ in running costs, the newbie feels good as they are getting support from the outset, and you have a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing you have helped someone take their first step to flying RC heli's!!

I feel like I need mine again after the last few crashes I've had!!
          Brilliant idea Aidi.
This should become a sticky so that it is easily accessible.

Great idea, and I'd fully support it

However, I cut mine down as I progressed, so for that reason I'm out

What a totally superb idea - well done Aidi.

I would love to have been able to donate mine too (50 size) but unfortunately Mr Leebert smashed them to bits by putting the heli into idle up and as a result the heli got into a bit of a tank slapper and they got totally shredded by the blades!

Having said that, it was the best thing he could have done because I was glad to get rid of them and haven't looked back since!!!

P.S. I wouldn’t recommend trying to collect the remains though – I was picking bits of fibre glass out of my fingers for days!!

In that case (forgive the pun)

I will donate free of charge my training legs (no longer used) to you Balders and will pack them inside the Align 450 carry case you bought from me today.

There ya go.. My good deed for the day.

I will donate my set from my B400 when I stop using them. But I have no idea how long that will be due to this damn weather and not being able to get out and practice

Way cool!!! Real chuffed this has been widely accepeted

I hope all the future beginners will benefit from this idea, and also the website from the additional donations being made. I think lots of us underestimate how much time, effort and money Stuart puts in to this site to make it what it is today.
