Bloody hell mate. Hope your not hurting too much. We all learn lessons the hard way at times, or do something which on reflection know was wrong or just plain silly.

Follow adrians advice and stick with the procedure everytime you fly and you wont go far wrong. We have all been lax at some point and had the heli try to bite us, but once it happens, its a stark reminder how dangerous these machines are even on the ground.

I am sure you will have learnt a valuable lesson from your experience... it will make you wiser for the future.

Glad the heli is ok, dont know if i could stand not being able to pick me nose though!!

Bloody hell mate, do watch yourself, however I think most of us have had a "dance" with the rota head while first starting off.

I can't say anything as about four months back my upper Arm got hit at half throttle, and I managed to slightly bend the Feathering Shaft, I've kept it to this day as a reminder to my baptism in pain what not too do.

Not to mention the black & blue bruise I had the day after.

Welcome to the club mate and do take care.

thanks guys it was pretty bad I went A&E today, Iv got 2 stitches in my index finger and 1 in my thumb, it was a really silly mishap, Because I was rushing (something I wont do again) I ended up trying to grab the heli by the head without looking to see if the blades had stopped and in doing so I dropped the tx and the rest speaks for itself, To any who are balancing blades (more then one pair at a time) please please please take your time dont rush and dont touch the heli until you have safely switched off the tx or at very least put it down safely with no chance of it "slipping" to the ground. I have learned a very painful lesson here. I know you may sit there and think "silly sod" but I honestly was being careful and this still happened to me so when all is said and done "Helis are not toys, Helis are a danger in the wrong hands, Helis do not care if you own them or not they will still bite a chunk out of you if you do not follow the safety rules (as posted by machasm) and as a closing note........Be safe please guys it kind of worried me just how bad the mishap was Id hate to hear of anything worse happening to someone else, I beg you all to be very very careful and fully awake when atempting any kind of repair / maintainace.

With this said...........Fly sure, Fly safe, training to fly is not a race!!

...I will keep you posted on my Progress and any safety tips I pick up along the way.....I might have lost a pint of blood but i have gained a wealth of understanding

Well the main thing thankfully is your not too injured compared to what might have happened, but I do believe incident's like this make you a safer pilot for the better part knowing how much these machines can hurt, not to mention if she was going at 3/4 throttle the injury would have been much worse.

A little tip if I may, when I fly I always hold the TX in a comfortable way so my thumbs are always tight to the sticks and my first finger rests just behind the throttle cut switch, as you never know if an electrical fault may happen, a head part breaks or what ever.

Plus once landed to change over a battery (example) I always have the TX besides me no matter what, again the throttle cut is always on, but if someone came over and I'd left it on my stool I take with me you never know if there mess around and accidentally cause a lift off, and you know as we all, these machines can cover a huge distance in a very short time.

Being over cautious is always a very good thing, and I know after my accident a while back made me a safer pilot, and I'm glad of it.

I don't think any of us will be flying outside in the UK this weekend, so plenty of time to do a few parts check, to make sure nothings coming loose anywhere.

Heal quick mate, and enjoy your hobby in a safe environment.

Just a word of warning mate! Never turn your TX off before you have unplugged your baterry first (electric) or stopped the engine (nitro).

I knwo with 2.4G it's less liekly to go wrong. But a hang-over saftey tip from PPM/PCM is to make sure you turn teh model off FIRST, thent eh TX. This is because if the you turn teh TX off first the heli can go out of control!

              Keep safe, heal quick!

              Cheers
