electric helicopter for a newbie

hi,
i just joined the forum as im looking for an electric rc heli that can take the knocks of a beginner and isnt too hard to repair maintain etc. i havent got a clue about maintainance but im just guessing its a keep it clean and oiled sort of thing. i also havent got a clue what i should be looking out for. any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Your best bet is to find a local flying club and go along to see what they fly.

If its electrics great, if its glow engined then you might consider this route as it makes learning a lot easier to have similar models being flown by local 'experts'.

I guess electric Helis to look at are Trex, Lama XRB, Twister 47G

ah right. im hoping the one i find isnt a glow engined club as ive had a glow powered rc car and that was so annoying to run. i will have to see. thanks for your help!

heli engines are much larger than car ones. this makes them much more reliable as the efficiency goes up. There is a trick to tuning engines, it isnt that hard but if you dont know how to do it they can be a pain.

electric powered helicopters tend to be much smaller and finicky to get them to fly nice. They are also generally harder to fly than their bigger brothers.

You should look into the corona, almost indestructable, seen a few go in hard and just get picked up and flown again 8O
