  • trex 450 came today

Ok so i flew my new trex 450 today for the first time and i must admit im happy.....i didnt crash, the weather was good, in flight it was stable and very nice to just flutter about with, I got it from the USA (RTF) and them guys did a top job, I didnt need to tweek anything, In fact im so inpressed with it that Im not so botherd about the 80 something quid i spent on customs charges.

Im now ready for my second flight with it and was wondering if anyone in the enfield or north london area has a 450 they are flying with as id like to get some idea of the build quality of my trex. (Im new to all this and I dont really want to spend £30 for someone to tell me its fine! tips and hints on T-rex 450 se v2 set-up would be great also.

Hay cool, thank you so much cambs, helped a lot, seems to be a bit more responsive now and my pitch was off a bit but just doing what you surgested has cured the issues, also If any of you do buy a heli from USA or Wherever I found that the air pressure changes cause batteries to loose cells my advice is buy your batteries from your native land to avoid wasting money. (obvious i know but hay I didnt realise until i done it twice and 3 out of 6 bats where D.O.A lol) Im so happy i came across this site.....you guys are a big help.

        Good stuff mate.

Those settings well get her airborne safely but a little fine tuning will possibly be needed.

I pleased your having fun though.

About the battery's, I'm sure the ones sold in the UK arrive from China by container ship, though it's an interesting thought, as I'd guess the cargo bay on an aircraft isn't heated, but I'm sure it's pressurised, as an unpressurised space such as a cargo hold makes up a huge area of an airframes envelope, but I'm not entirely sure?

Do you think it might be due to the cold? at 30,000ft I believe it's roughly around minus 40?

But I'm sure someone here might know.

yeah my first thought was the cold I was just guessing at the air pressure thing, i find the ones posted in a jiffy bag with a bit of bubble wrap are the ones that are ok, the ones that come either in the box with the heli or in a box alone are the ones that loose cells, so mybe it is the cold? hmmm but anyway i decided on a second flight...got the heli out....turned on the dx6i and like a lemon i didnt reailise the sysnc switch was "being leaned on" and i have no plug to resink!!!! aaarrrrggghhhh lol the smallest thing has me grounded!!....Tomorow the skys are mine!

ok heres me sitting in work looking at a nice big sports hall just begging to be flown in, and as i said earlyer i went and unbinded my receiver from the trasmitter and i have no plug! so i look at a picture of a binding plug and of a receiver and realised all i need to do is connect pin one to pin 3 ignoring pin 2 on the "BATT" terminal on the receiver (see pic below) Because all a plug is is one wire looped from 1 to 3. i did this with a thin peice of wire i had handy and fired her up.....it worked!! it worked i tell you! im now going to enjoy a night of endless crashing and fixing (insted of working) see guys a little bit of reserch and you save £2.50 on a binding plug. im also enjoying getting to know the ins and outs of the workings of my heli, i figgure its best to learn from error, and as iv pointed out errors dont always cost money if you think about it first.

on the left is the "BATT" terminal, all you do is ignore the middle pin and connect the first and last pins, no need for that little alusive binding plug!!! (just be very careful not to let any of the wires touch the middle pin (ok a little tricky but worth it) to prevent this i used 2 little tiny slips of paper inbetween the pins and that way i didnt have to worry about them touching eachother.
Hope this saves some of you going mad looking for that little plug!

Nice Bit of hovering for about 5 mins.....she starts to move forward....why? oh no I might be in trouble here...I pull back just enough to stop her flying off......TO MUCH shes going up and turning on her back......shes not going to let me gain control.....BANG (new blades and tail boon) OUCH! Dont panic my baby is fine and i slapped myself for taking the training feet off! They are now back on and shes flying with as much grace as she can with big orange balls hanging off her Let this be a lesson to me! GET A SIM!!!

So my question is can anyone tell me if I need to order anything extra for the sim to work with my dx6i? (apart from the cable that is). the one I downloaded to use with my twister was ok but i couldnt get the tx to work with it on my PC (I have a updated PC so I'm confused, did i set it up wrong? i didnt get anything to tell me the procedure)

If you purchase Phoenix you obviously get a USB dongle (cable) with it and your DX6i will be fine.

Phoenix's Dongle cable will connect to the back of your TX just fine mate.

Sorry to read about your crash, we've all had them but do keep the training gear on until you can fly confidently, even then it's a bit hairy when you start to fly without them.

Good luck mate, do remember to coat the two Feathering Shafts screws with a little Lock Thread, all you need is a little on the first 3-4 screw turns and it'll spread and hold the two ends together safely, and leave for around 20 mins to dry.

Also add T.L on the Jesus bolt, as I'd imagine the main shaft is bent too, as your need to remove the Rota Head component.
