  • R.I.P raptor

wel it had to happen at some point but last night i smashed the living poop out my raptor 50 v2 so bad in fact i was looking for bits i could keep rather than bits to replace, and the anoying thing is it was my 4th flight ever with it
anyhoo i have a few questions, feel free to answer
1, i have a dent in my exhaust ( at the very front on the dome part, and wonderd it it would make a difrence to its performance?
2, im useing a OS 50SX-H and managed to crack the coller that the carb slides into, and snapped of 3 fins from the cooling head, so is there anywere to buy parts of the engine or wil i have to get a whole new one?
3, as it was a nose dive crash but side on, if that makes sence, the whole front end is gone along with the receiver and most of the lil connectors that are on the end of the servos ,gyro, gov, wel is there a tool or way to fit new connectors on the end of these wires?

wel thats all the Q's i have at the mo. thanks a bunch for reading and commenting if you do.
    happy flying

dont worry it can be fixed. Where is deerness. i could maybe evaluate the damage, help you organise parts and help you fix it. you can get engine bits but depending on what you need it MAY be easier to buy a new one and sell the old one for spares

It just so happens that I have a OS sx-h head (silver one not the blue hyper) going spare, but it probably doesn't matter that the fins are broken off and you can carry on with the old one.
The cracked crank case by the carb is more problematic as any air leaks there will cause bad problems.

I also have an almost complete engine without a crankshaft. This has a hyper head with some fins broken off (see above comment) and an OS70 3 needle carb on it and the crank case is good and the bearings are new, but it has a missing piston ring. I took the crank out of it and put it in my motor that broke the end off the crank in my knight50 on sunday. Make me an offer for the whole or parts of it. I also have a new piston ring for it in its packet.

go to www.ashtekelectronics.com where you can buy all the tools, plugs and crimps you need to repair your servo plugs very economically. They do futaba and JR types.

The dent in the exhaust probably doesn't amatter at all. Run it and see. I'm rinning a hatori 522 with a dent in the back (from the boom stay bolt on a raptor) and it has no effect.

So sorry mate, not good i feel your pain as my synergy is R.I.P also.
Dent in the pipe is a try and see, should be ok.
Any good OS stockist should get the spares, have a look on Fastlad website for OS spares as a good guide.
There is a tool to do the connectors, best again talk to a model shop, i am sure they can get hold of them.

Sorry to hear of the crash mate, chin up though. It all part of the hobby remember.
Dont let it put you off. Instead use the time to sorts ya bits out that you'll need and to learn about putting it all back together if ya dont already know. Its invaluable for when it happens again. And it will happen again, just part of the hobby unfortuantely. Id ditch the engine and buy a new one or get moyesboy's parts and put the 2 together. You could always solder and heat shrink new leads instead of having to buy the crimping tool etc. The dint in the exhaust will probably be fine to be honest so just go ahead and fit it and try until you can get another one. Maybe even learn with that if it works okay. That way you dont bust another new one.
              Cheers
