Thanks for all the warm welcomes . I'm at my wits end with this thing now!
To cut a long story short(ish) , when I first got it started, the clutch seemed to cut in and out, with no relation to engine speed. High revs or low made no difference to the drive. Then when I went to start it for the second time, I must have flooded the engine, because it locked up, and by a stroke of bad luck, the starter jammed on, so when I loosened my grip on it, the whole motor span round, wraping the wires round itself , and took out the spragg(one way) bearing at the same time. When I plugged the motor back in, it was whirring away nicely on the ground.
I flicked the lever and it stopped.
Back at the shop, and the guy sent off for a new fan housing and one way bearing. The problem is, you screw down the clutch(inside the bell) onto the crank by hand and then when I tighten up the nut, the whole lot locks up! So what I did was run the clutch up till it was level with the edge of the bell, and then held it with a pair of circlip pliers then tightened the nut.
I thought this was ropey, as the clutch could screw down a bit more and leave the nut loose.
Anyway, I ran it up, and the clutch was still the same, on off, weak drive. The engine also drank half a tank of fuel in about 2 minutes, and was supposed to be test flown before sent out even though I had to screw the needle in, to get it started.
So I got the shop guy(John) to just order me a new engine and clutch, and send the lot back to them! So I picked the new clutch and engine up this morning, fitted it all back in, and the clutch is even worse than the last one, with barely any drive at all. But the engine sounds a whole lot better Second start-up and the clutch nut loosened off and broke a couple of fan blades
John in the shop spoke to a heli expert and he recons I should locktite the clutch at it's free point, then tighten and locktite the nut too.
                    Any ideas ?
                    TIA,
                    Stewart.

Sorry to say this all sounds very familiar to my mates experience with his Kestrel

I was going to get one until I saw the problems he had.
After looking at the engine/clutch etc I’m sure its all down to poor design.
Love the idea of a 15 ic heli,, but not this one.

                        Good luck
