  • First proper flights and legs off last night

    Hello all

Been a lurker on this forum for about a year now. I got into helis throu my friends Stef (Wang_uk) and Jamie (JamieM) about a year ago. I bought Stefs old heli, a Raptor 50 V2 with lots of Quick UK goodies on it, and set about learning to fly. I got a copy of Pheonix and have been using this quite a bit when i get time. Now sadly we had alot of teething issues with the heli and i never really got to fly it very well or often, about 3 flights in total i think, and this culminated in an engine failure just before christmas last year As it was xmas and the girlfriend insisted that we buy a new sofa and decorate the house so the heli was put on hold for a few months while i paid for that lot and then saved for a new motor. Stef and Jamie advised that i may as well get a Hyper 50 and pointed me in the direction of Phil Henderson (Cheers Phil) who i duly ordered my engine from. With my new engine in place i went with Stef and Jamie to go flying only for my throttle linkage to fall off, ha ha. What a good way to run the engine in. Anyhoo it was getting late so we headed off. That was about 6 weeks ago now and then last week i have thought buggar this, i am going flying!

So off to the field last night with full determination to get my heli in the air. And with Jamie and Stef by my side i managed to get 3 full tanks done and was really pleased with my progress and the fact that i was leaving the field with a heli in one piece. I was just about to pack up as light was fading and Jamie had this really stupid idea about me flying without my training legs on as he felt i could handle it already and wanted me off the training legs ASAP. I Shat myself as they frog marched me and my heli to the flight line. Anyway, 15 minutes later i was jumping around like a small child as i had landed nice and smoothly when they had asked me to and within about 2 metres of where they wanted me to land, ha ha, and still had a heli intact

So a massive thanks to Jamie and Stef for all their perserverance and putting up with me

Cant wait till i can fly next

    Thanks for listening.

Here is some pics of my Heli. I love it.

    Kind Regards

    Garry

Yeah, they are great guys. Very patient

Yes, i really feel i may be able to do this now, it just took a massive push from myself to get on and get out there, i just keep making excuses as to why not to fly, rather than why to fly.

All i need to know now is what all the bits do and how to use my transmitter (Specktrum) as at the moment Jamie is setting everything up for me so im not learning anything on that side of the hobby. Will get it nailed tho. Just so happy to be flying Think i will go on Saturday now. He He.

      Kind Regards

Ha ha, no chance. I going to scraficially burn them

Stef and I went out on Friday and did a tank on the field between us. (Where you flew your 450 at night that time) and all went well. Pesky weather looks to be a pain tho for the rest of this week

Shall have to see how it goes, at the moment i got the whole of the coming weekend free so hope to get some flights in then

                    Cheers

Well done, it's a scary time when you first fly minus a hoop or similar safety net! I was forced into removing the hoop from my Raptor 30, best thing I've been made to do.
