  • Was it the wrong choice????

    Hi Guys

Like many I purchsed Phoenix(The best £70 ever spent) after getting a BCX2 in April

after exhausting the BCX2 I went to my local model shop looking for the next heli - After a few visits they convinced me a Hirobo SRB Quark was the next option.

I get it home looking forward to the first flight and I am quite gutted - Whilst it is a quality little indoor heli I cant help feeling this model is overpriced by about £100 and I feel a bit ripped off (not by the shop as they are very helpful just by the RRP)..
So I only put it through one flight and I'm thinking about going back to the shop with it, if I do what do I change it for ??

Whilst I'm no flying expert I could hover it etc ok without any probs and I'm reasonable on phoenix.

I have a DX7 if helps with any advice - Some say a Trex 450 is a good option others say a 500 would be better as they are more stable

    any advice greatfully received

Don't know about the heli you have but I can vouch for the 500 any day.

If you can afford to kit out a 500 and afford some repairs I'd go for it over the 450.

tbh the srb is an overpriced gimick! it flys marginaly better that a cx2 but is still very limited.

depending on your budget the 500 is a great heli. but for less money than the srb you could get a twister storm or blade 400 minus tx

all hirobos are overpriced gimmicks. NO EXCEPTIONS. I can vouch for both the rexes the 500 may be the slightly better bet but it cannot do anything the 450 cant do either. personally id go 450 and spend the extra money on shit loads of batterys for the 450

if you think hirobo's are over priced look at the sceadu 50 kit price and some of the major spares against the t600n
you'll be suprised to know hirobo have dropped the price's
the sceadu 50 is cheaper than the 600n

but back to the post i've not flown the trex 500 but am told its miles better than the 450
and my 450se fly's well (but not as good as my sceadu 50 and trex 600n)

I only really went with the Quark as I though I could learn to fly a more realistic type heli indoor so the rubbish British weather would not stop me flying but I just have that feeling of being £300 light (with extra blades etc) and not a lot to show for it

I have a DX7 so I guess to pick up a 450 se V2 and the rest of the stuff I need will be about £500 ish ?

cheers for the response guys - Glad I'm not the only one thinking along these lines

dont wanna enter a slagging match here but ive seen a sceadu explode when a rex just broke a blade and bent the shaft, the sceadu was dead broken frames and everthing. Not saying they fly bad they dont just arent up to the job crash wise and generally TOO expensive. Especially concerning the new freya replacement £1500?PLEASE

Hate to tell you mate but that's what put me off the same heli, and off the BigCFG, was price, both overpriced for what they are, the same money that got the Hirobo Quark would've got you the Blade 400, and I'm sure there's people on here would've helped you get the best out of her. I know the thing is hard to fly, but the last couple of days have taught me there's people here who still know why and know how to improve the lady for the best.

Yep you should have bought a blade 400 and saved £50.

SRB's are a total rip off and aways have been.

back on the sceadu/rex i've seen it the other way around the rex exploded and it even broke the crankcase of the motor
it just depends on how it hits the ground
i own and fly both of them and i'm not saying one's better than the other as they both have good and not so good points
but on average most of todays 50 size machines fly well
