  • Odd problem

    Hi all
Have been out for a fly this afternoon and have found that the tail blades are slowly moving in one directing to the full travel of the servo. I have full control from the Tx to move left and right. I think it could be some sort of problem with the gyro but not sure what. The gyro I am using is a CSM SL560. The heli has flown many time with no problem till today, dose anyone have any ideas please??

the gyro sounds as though it is trying to move the tail to its last known heading. Make sure you are not moving the heli after plugging in the battery. otherwise flick between normal mode and h/h a few times to reset the gyro.

is it doing it in standard mode?
If not perhaps switch to standard after initialising and fly it then switch to h/h in the air.
        just an idea.

It's quite normal for the servo to drift one way or the other when in HH mode and the engine isn't running. Switching to normal mode should put the servo back to it's centre position, and it shouldn't move at all, unless you turn the heli or twiddle the rudder stick.

If it flies ok, then don't worry about it.

I had some drift to the right. After moving the boom mounted servo back a couple of mill, and re set the gyro, it was ok. Could be the mechanical set up isn`t 100%.

Its been doing it while it is in the air. Will try and get it fired up tomorrow at work and try the gyro switch in a different position. Can not remember which position is h/h. Normally I fly with the switch that controls the gyro in the same position, full forward.

Dose not help that I did not setup the heli, trying to get hold of the lad that set it up. Its all part of the learning curve....

Have just been buggering about with the gyro switch on the Tx and the setting are now the opposite of what they where!!! How strange is that.

When servo returns to centre after you let go of stick, it`s in rate mode, if it doesn`t it`s in HH. Make sure it`s in rate mode, check servo arm is 90 to link rod, and 90 at the tail end, if not, adjust rod till it is. Then go through gyro set up sequence, then fly in rate mode. If no drift, your done. Best to get someone to flick your switch several times while you hover without moving rudder to set gyro in flight. Then you can go to HH and adjust gain. This is how i did it with my 420. Think it`s the same for 560 but might be wrong!
