  • Wasnt so lucky this time.....

Well after about 30 seconds of stableish hovering the heli twitched and touched a blede on the floor, it went bang but sounded impressive, off to get me some new blades as i think that was all that was damaged....

As soon as the blade struck the floor it was back on to its training gear and all shafts at first look appear straight.....

Would you reccomend spending a few extra pounds on glass fibre blades over wooden as I'm sure i will be going through a few sets....

    Cheers

Personally I would stick to the woodies until you clear the hovering practise stage.

With GF and carbon blades, they can do more damage to the Heli and you.

    Just my 2p.

    Cheers

you should check the feathering shaft and also check the servos havnt stripped a gear.
im gunna take a pic of the way i routed my antenna and do yours the same and see if you can stop that glitching. ive never had 1 glitch with any of my belt cp's. the pic will be of my ugraded belt cp but i did the same with my full standard setup and it was fine (never glitched once) - brb - matty

can you tell how i done it? a piece of nitro fuel tubing from the rx to the front of the plastic antenna tube - the antenna is still too long when put through so i went back up the outside of the plastic tube and around it at the rear skid and than back towards the rear. i chopped a couple of rings off the fuel tube so i can hold the loose antenna wire to the plastic antenna tube. matty

I used to coil excessive receiver wire lengths around the antenna tube to make a sort of base loaded antenna. I was told that doubling back like you have here shortens the range?
If you find you're having range issues, try the coiling method instead
                Cheers,

im not too keen at all on the coil method. i dont have any issues with range. when i fly circuits i fly them big and fast about the length of 1 1/2 football pitchs. its the furthest i fly it away from me cuz at the distance the liitle 450 is hard to see but keeping up the forward speed helps to keep orientation.

                  cheers matty

That looks great matty, will give it a go! I dont think range was an issue, it was only 10 foot away....

I have the RX aerial coming out of the back of the heli, forward through the tubing then back towards the rear and then coiled around the boom support. any thoughts? (Iknow its difficult to visualise but i dont have a cam with me)

just like to add - change both blades even if only 1 blade has been damaged.

i damaged 1 blade and only changed the damaged 1 and the whole heli vibrated like crazy. i tried tracking it in for ages and kept going over and over the whole heli thinking i had damaged something else but couldnt find anything wrong with it. after a couple of hours pulling my hair out i had a brain wave.
i thought - Mmm these blades could be matched pairs so i fitted the other new blade and it was perfect.

Yeh replace both blades. Also stick with woodies as upgrading the blade strength will only transfer more impact through into the head main shaft and servos so instead of just buying 2 blades you'll be buying 2 blades, 3 servos, shafts and maybe head parts.....
