  • First flight with Blade 400!

Well, i say flight, it was more a few hovers with a number of "saves", BUT, first battery through it & no damage.

It was a bit scary at first, as it kept yawing anti-clockwise as it was spooling up, but i just made allowances for it, and got into my first hover almost by accident.

After that, it was just a case of spooling up & twitchy hover after twitchy hover in my postage stamp back garden. Mrs -=JK=- took a bit of footage, but it ain't pretty, and reminds me of my first outdoor escapades with the CX2 (about 6 weeks ago).

So, battery on charge, and hoping for a bit of calmer air tomorrow evening.

Thanks for all the help & info on here. Phoenix was a true investment. It's very different from the real thing, but it stopped me freezing up & made me deal with things as they happen.

So, happy days. I have noticed how sweet the Raptors are in Phoenix too. Hmmmmmmm.

      And so it begins.

Good job, I've never flown the B400 but I bet I'd crash that twitchy little thing. Once you've mastered that then I don't think any other larger heli would give you problems.

      Stick at it!

Very well done mate, my first 2 outings both ended needing repairs so well done indeed.

              Thanks guys,

I've been lucky today, and i know that a lot is due to the HOURS i've spent on Phoenix in the last 10 days.

I fully expected to struggle with it, and it certainly wasn't easy.

Will settle into a lot of hovering & get things back under control before heading for the wide open spaces.

It's quieter than i expected too, which is a bonus (for the neighbours).

John, i've been watching your progress with interest. Sounds like you've had some tough times!!! Hope things level out for you, bud

Will try Boggy's tips on setup. I bought the 2mm collets....just need to fit & have a play.

where did you find them mate? I've been hunting high and low for the 2mm collets to no avail.

And don't worry, I will fly her, be damned if I'll own the heli of my dreams and not be able to fly her.... LOL

I got them from a Hobby Store place in Cambridge. I'd have thought most places that have planes would be able to help. Let me know if you get stuck & i'll find you another set...only £2 for 4 & a small allen key to do them up with.

Am trying to think of places i can go with more room now :-)

Looks fine, you want to be getting that heli over the hedge and giving it some more room..
