  • Between the CX2 and Blade 400 for indoor use?

I have both a CX2 and Blade 400. The CX2 is just great for playing with indoors - hours of fun and still a lot to learn on it. The Blade 400 is great outdoors but whilst I am comfortable with the CX2 I am still a bit nervous of flying the B400 outside in anything less than completely calm conditions of which there don't seem to be many at the moment. I've just pranged it because I was too impatient to wait for calmer conditions. The CX2 and Blade 400 have such wildly different characteristics - there seems to be a massive jump between the two. I want something that i can buy now with more B400 style flying characteristics e.g. with collective pitch / tail rotor and not counter rotating rotors that I can fly indoors when it is too windy to fly the B400 outside. Can anyone suggest something like the B400 but just not quite so mental to use indoors? The Blade 400 seems a bit of a beast indoors. I don't want to decapitate my daughter before her second birthday.

I have Phoenix flight Sim but i am bored with that plus I associate my computer with work and the last thing i want to do after a day working at home on my computer is start using a flight sim if i can possibly help it.

Please any suggestion would be very gratefully received. Many thanks in advance

Hirobo SRB Quark is one middle step you could take.
It's not a collective pitch heli, but it can be flown indoors, and outdoors on calmer days.
    Worth a look.
    Cheers,
    Rob

I can't comment on a heli for indoor use but I would say DO NOT use the B400 indoors unless you have something like a sports hall.
As you can see the blades oon the 400 are quite capable of seriously injuring someone especially with a toddler about.

rob, i have flown a quark, whist it looks to be in the middle i would say its almost as stable as a cx2 so im not so sure it would be enough of a step up.

i know you dont like using the sim but 10mins a night is all thats needed and use it as you would use the real thing, just wanging around wont help you at all.

find a nice open space so if it is windy the air is reasonably smooth and fly it a lot!

If it was a more stable heli you wanted that could handle the wind better, you would have little choice but to go with something bigger, i.e. a raptor 30, trex 500, gaui hurricane. You can pick things like this up second hand, just look at the classified ads

You could consider a Buzzfly (this is not CP), or either of the GAUI EP100s.

They've all got things to recommend them. I fly all 3 indoors.

The EP100s are the same physical size as a BCX2. They're not RTF, but that might not be a bad thing.

Ade, did you play with the swash settings?
They are adjustable to make it more lively...

It's still an FP heli though, so it's never going to 3D

Could'nt agree more with you scallybert. If your bored and want some indoor fun, although it's only FP, until the CP comes out later this year, it's got to be either a BuzzFly or Walkera 4#3b. [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fUf0iqaVPb4[/ame]

                  Yes, everyone should have one.

There's a lot to be said for the little GAUIs as well. You need a bit more room, but they're slightly more like a proper chopper (as if I'd know...). More you can tinker with, set-up, etc. You can use a more sophisticated radio with them. DX6i would be fine.

This is a link to some old video of my Buzzfly and GAUI 3 blade. Real novice stuff. http://www.crushkilldestroy.co.uk/carp/

will do if you turn the blades upside down and reverse the motor
