  • Newbie From London Needs Help

    hi
i got a honey bee king around 2 months ago, but a week after i got it i crashed it and broke one of the blades (and maybe something else), so i got a new set of blades but now when i increase rpm the heli starts getting a horrible wobble to it.

so what i would like to know is if there is anyone who lives in or near south east london who can check out my heli and maybe even be my instructor (i could pay you if you want)?

also does anyone know of any good rc heli model shops who can help me fix the problem i have with my heli?

    hope you can help

    thanks

    Hi,
I am not from round London but would hazard a guess that you have a bent mainshaft.
As for learning invest in a good Sim (Phoenix) and you won't need an instructor.

Well you have bent the main shaft and maybe the shaft that holds the blades (feathering shaft), thats where the wobble comes from. I doubt very much you will find a LHS that sells these, Im in SE London and I have not come across any.
You will have to order new bits online.

Take the shafts off the Heli and roll them on a smooth surface you will soon see if there bent

Im affraid I dont know if those parts will fit I doubt it.
          I live in Sidcup,
I could help fit parts, best if you do it and I help, otherwise how will you learn.
Teaching flying is going to be very difficult as I fly mode 1 (throttle right)
But a decent Simulator like Phoenix will help you.

Use these people for spares they have loads.

I think this is what your after.
Might be worth getting a feathering shaft too while your at it.

You may well have not bent the main shaft! In my experience the feathering shaft will bend for a pasttime so I would definitely order at least one of those.

Check the mainshaft first very simply by taking the blades off and running the motor very slowly looking at the button on the top of the shaft from on top. This will show up any bend in it. If it is bent the button will "wander" on rotation and the shaft will need replacing.

It is worthwhile building up a stock of spares, as if you stay in this hobby you will certainly need them!

As a starter I would suggest several spare blades, feathering shafts, main drive gear and shaft. I have used this site: http://www.rc-bargains.co.uk/epages/es108453.sf/ - very good service

                ok
i think i'll buy both shafts from buzzflyer

on the subject of simulators i actually have the real flight g3 simulator (only really used it for an hour or so)
at the moment i cant hover on the spot but i can keep the heli in a square on the ground

but i think it will be better for me to learn from someone in the real world, even though the sim can improve basic skills

thats what i meant twister, that i can install the parts but with you looking over my shoulder
do you know of anyone else around the SE?
i live near a place called lewisham

Im in Basingstoke, a relative newby but done a fair bit of rebuilding on Blade400. I'd be happy to help if you need it. I have invested in instruction and since having instruction I've not had a single 'moment' but then Im very conservative and only take things slowly. PM me if you want help

Assuming you have the plastic head, buy the sets of 4 feathering shafts for the Belt CP. They're identical to the ones used in the King, but much cheaper per unit.

As I understand it, the main difference between King 1 and 2 main shafts is v1 shafts have a small collar ground onto them for the tail shaft drive gear, whereas v2 shafts have a space for a pin to engage the tail belt drive gear. Besides, Heliguy do the EK1 0281 King 1 main shaft, albeit at almost £5 a piece! In my experience, if you have the solid steel main shafts on the king, it takes a pretty serious crash to bend them; the usual victims are the feathering spindle, the washout guide, and either a flybar control arm or a bell-hiller mixer arm.
