It's not so much the cells but the fact they aren't soldered together that is the real issue.

As a side issue, the new members not being able to join our club is a bit of a non issue as the club is chronically over subscribed and has been for years and has a huge waiting list apparently!!

Id recommend a Mini T over a TRex 450 in this case. The mini T is far more docile when you want it to be and the flight characteristics are so predictable just like its bigger brothers the raptors. Spares are much cheaper and its extremely easy to work on. If you were not a beginner then id recommend the TRex over the MT though.

Without steeling this very good thread,

I'm also very interested in the comments which have been made about the Trex or Titan. I've decided to opt for the Trex 450, but could any one advise which one to go for?

I'm sure Fishface will also benefit from this question!!!
        Cheers Eddie

I have just taken a couple of pics of my Mini T recently upgraded with some bargain parts I purchased from a very nice forum administrator going by the name of STUART. Top man as well.

            Hi

There are only two now really, the 450S and SE V2.

The 450S is the base model but still bloody good and has composite main frames very much like the SE, a metal head centre is included in the kits and this does make a difference to how it flies, I have set up and test flown plent of them for beginners and when set up even half right they are a very sweet model to fly.
The 450 SE V2 is their flag ship model and is IMO still the best 450 sized model overal, the SE is very strong in a crash and you probably won't break any of the shinny bits but been metal the shock does get transmitted on to the bearings in things like blade grips and main shaft bearing blocks but these are cheap enough to change out.

We chose to not bring the GF 450 SE in to the UK as it's based on the older V1 SE so not as good as the V2 but not cheap enough to make it a good middle option.

Align although a relatively new company to heli's have been making 450 sized models for a long time, they have come a long way in a few years so don't base how you think a T Rex flies on a 5 year old model fitted with Align servo's/ gyro etc.

            Cheers

Dragonus 450 or Blade 400. I've flown all of these in my post and the Dragonus tops the list but the Blade 400 is also very nice and comes completly RTF with a decent Spektrum transmitter which will do for life with 2.4GHz.

But if you have to go for one of them two then you want the Trex 450 SE/SEv2.

I had a Dragonus Elite something or other and although it flew very nicely parts were a nightmare to get hold of in the UK so I sold it on.

When I had mine the only places I could find were Overlander or abroad. the problem for me was that Overlander had only just started to support it and their knowledge was thin on the ground.

I also had 3 T-Rex450's of various types at the time so I decided to save aggro and stick with the T-Rex.

I seem to remember that the thing that pushed me to sell it was the fact if you crashed it and trashed the feathering shaft it took out the plastic spacers inside the head and you couldn't buy them unless you bought a complete set of new ally grips

Thanks to all for the lively feeback on Trex or Mini T.

Sounds like both would be good.

Trex V2 SE looks reasonable value for money given it comes with the metal upgardes and a battery which none of the Mini Titans do, but I've a feeling spares for the SE v2 will be more expensive when I prang it compared to a Mini Titan?

                            Depends...

Most of the metal bits you are less likely to break...unless you really bin it

Argh, don't you just love it when you type a massive post then you hit the back button by mistake. Firefox didn't save it this time .

Fishface, I highly recommend the Trex SE V2 out of them two, most popular and most well supported heli. Parts are pretty much the same between all of the top 450's. Although I still recommend you the Blade 400, and then keeping the spare cash for parts/more lipos.

The Dragonus is like the hidden gem of the 450's not many people know about it but the ones that do love it! It looks a little different so some people don't like it. Personally I didn't like it to begin with but I loved it's smooth on-rails flying. And now it's grown on me and I like it just as much or more than the normal looking ones.

                              I get my parts from:

                              http://www.arkinnovations.com/shop/index.php?

Although not very often I need to replace parts. (Slow and steady wins the race to 3D)

I know what you mean about quality, far higher than the Trex, MT and Blade 400. (I've worked on them all).

You could always buy a titan se from philiphenderson... £200 for the se kit/motor and ESC. All metal head and tail... carbon boom and fin, 3D paddles as stock. Will look like mine you see in the pictures (one with the high viz orange graphics - obviously the se graphics are diffrent). Bargain price for that lot.

                                Cheers
