  • Newbie - Raptor 50 saying 'hello' for the 1st time!

    Hi all,

I used to fly approx eight years ago, I used to fly a Junior 50 with Futaba radio gear, but gave up as I was a student at the time & needs some money!

I'm now the proud owner of a new Raptor 50, I bought the item off EBay (yes a big risk I know!) But it really has paid off!

    Check out the link below:-

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...RFB%3AIID&rd=1

I'm yet to fly the heli, but have been putting many MANY hours in on the Reflex slight sim that came with the deal.

I can also recommend the Tru-Flight sim, the URL is as follows:-

http://www.tru-flite.org/ (Ian the sales/tech support guy is very approachable & helpful)

The model is brand new & has been flown for approx 2hrs. Additionally the heli was set-up by Noel Cross at Midland Helicopters.

I live in Bracknell Berkshire so would love to hear from anyone in the area!

I'm also keen to join a heli club, so again recommendations of any in the area would be appreciated.

Many thanks & hope to hear from you all soon!

    Hey there,

Welcome, I just hope you have some money now, You'll need it !!! only joking I'm new aswell, flown a bit with my rappy 30 and also like yourself I've been putting in the hours on reflex.

Just thought I'd say ello and that I have a Super 60 sitting in the garage waiting for a nice 4 stroke... built it about 6-7 years ago and due to circumstances I've never got round to doing the last bit and now heli's are my main intrest after going through the nitro truck/car stage.

As I'm up north' a bit from you I can't recommend a club but it's definately worth joining, I have learn't loads just from being around and listening to the other members at my club, not to mention the much needed help that they have all so kindly given.

All the best and keep smiling, it's the only way sometimes !!

It is worth getting a lesson or 2 you have a few schools near you and I am only down at bournemouth.

as for clubs, they have a club list on their website.

        http://www.bmfa.org/clubs/

I wouldnt join the closest one, Join the one with the most heli fliers. Go and visit them and chat to the members.

          Hi all,

Thanks for the reply, I also used / still am into R/C trucks I've a fully hopped up HPI Savage, this truck cost around 1,000, I picked it up for 500.

I'm on the simulator all afternoon today, although after approx 3 weeks I'm able to hover, nose in hover, as well as hover left & right as well as some circuit flying.

So I guess I really should take to the sky using the real thing! I've a training undercarriage, however I'm pretty confident this'll come off after a couple of flights! But fully intend to take my time with progress.

Thanks for the info regarding clubs, I'll join a dedicated heli club sometime soon. As I'm sure I'll have loads of questions & will need some flying tips / help soon enough.

Thanks again & hope to continue posting on this forum.

            Hi All

New to this heli game but do have some exp in flying other things. Bought and built a T-Rex and keep crashing it (less and less now I got XTR) Midland Helis must love me! Currently just finishing a build on a Spirt L-16 Seems huge compared to the T-Rexl, might have to get a bigger garden! 8O
