  • First flight

Well after my 6 month break from helis after crashing on my first flight i returned as you know.
This morning the sun was lovely and only a mild wind so i thought this would be as good as time as any.
After i get to the field, do all the pre-flight checks, fuel her up and off i went.
The flight was a total success, i did drift alot but it was my first proper flight.
To any new rappy pilot all i can say is read this whole site http://www.raptortechnique.com/
    His rules are a must
    A. If the tail gets more than 45 degrees away from you SIT IT DOWN
    B. If the helicopter moves faster than a slow walking speed then SIT IT DOWN
    C. If the helicopter moves too far away then SIT IT DOWN
    D. If the helicopter get closer then the minimum safety distance to you then SIT IT DOWN
    E. If the helicopter gets too high then it will pick up more and more speed before you are able to sit it down so watch your height.
    F. Don't chopstick. That means don't slam the throttle/collective stick down when you get in trouble. You could end up with a tail boom strike if you hit the ground too hard and the blades are too loose in the grips. Let it down easy.

This all worked for me so im just passing on what i found worked for me very well. And i was having so much fun i ran out of fuel, 1 foot off the ground like the site recomends. My hands where still shaking when i took the photos afterwards and are now.
Im proper hooked, cant wait for tomorrow morning

The canopy is made by Custom Canopys, he trades his canopys on ebay and will also do one to order if u ask him.
Just a plain orange one to help with vis while im learning

                  Its a massive field/sports pitch.
Gets mowed once a week minimum.
I love it as it is only 2 mins down the road from me, it is lonely though as im the only RC flyer in my imediate area

                    Well done!
Keep it up, good tips on Raptortechnique although bare in mind we all learn at different
speeds so do what feels comfortable to you and do'nt over extend yourself,
I'm sure others will agree that some days you're all fingers and thumbs and I found it costly to try and fly when its like that,
Other days everthing goes right brilliant!

Too true .. I think we all have days where ya start ya heli up put it down and hover and just think this dont feel like fun .... When that happens pack it up and go home and go another day .. nothing worse than flying when ya feel like that ... Me I throw a plane up if I get like that and then try again lol ....But we all progress at diff speeds and it dont mattter what the next person is doing as long as its fun and enjoyable ..
