  • Tail wagging when in fast backwards flight???

Help??? I have a raptor 30v2 TT39 - MP2, Futaba GY502. When in fast backwards flight my head speed is increased a little and this results in the tail wagging. Ive tried turning my gyro gain down but it doesnt seem to do anything apart from not holding the tail as good as the setting i originally had (set up by alans models). Could i have bent something? What causes the tail to wag apart from a high gyro gain? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

what are the limit values in the gyro for the tail servo? if they are unequal or too high/low then this can cause problems.

It also might be time to fit a governor such as the rev-lock.

Hi again, they are both set to 100 in the gyro (sorry didnt know what you were getting at before). Ive set them to 90 would that be ok? Would this not slow my pirhouette speed down? how can i speed it back up if it does?
Thanks for the help Ade, this post has been on here a while and i didnt seem to get anywhere with it. Im open to any ideas at all.
          Cheers,

I have never actually setup a 502 but I believe its basically the same beast as the 601 but toned down a bit.

            this is how I setup a 601,

go to the lmt (limit) menu on the gyro, Servo will go to center. Make sure the servo arm is at 90degs to the pushrod.

now go to full right stick. the adjust the limit value in the gyro until the linkage binds slightly then back off a couple of %

Now do the same for left stick.

chances are the values will be different. Adjust the length of the tailpushrod and redo the limits. Keep doing that until the values are the same.

These should be over 100% but less than 120%

Set the gain on the front screen (the one that appears after you switch on the heli) to 37%.

            hope this helps,

Hi Ade, my linkage etc is setup already exactly like you said with both the ends at 100 %. This is what i cant understand. Is 37% not a little low for the gain in the gyro? Im gonna try it and fly it anyways like so ill let ya know wohat happens. Thanks for the help.

502, 601 and the new CSM 720 work a bit differently they dont rely on high tx gains for good performance.

if you are much over 40% this could well be the cause of your problem.
