Im'e starting to feel that this hobby is way beyond me.
I have been messing around with a Blade CX2 after failed 1st attempts with a Twister V2 FP
Today I treated myself to a DX6i for use with Phoenix & hopefully future helis.
Trex 450 & Blade 400, on Phoenix, control's OK but will not lift more than 6" off of the floor.
Have been searching posts for a cure and all I seem to see is phrases such as 'throttle curve', 'pitch curve', 'esc settings' etc.
Sorry peep's, but you may as well be writing in Russian.
I know that I probably fall into the '**** stained gimmer' category, but can anyone recommend some reading material that would explain to an idiot, such as myself, all these terms and what they mean/control?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul.

    Hi matey,
I found the FAQ's at the top of this page very helpful when i was starting out. The beginners tips are great.
Hang in there with the hobby, you have so much to learn in the beginning but it will start making sense the more you read about it.
    good luck

the simplest way to get flying with the dx6i on phoenix is to switch on and select a free memory set it to acro( plane). then switch it off!
plug in the dongle and it will power up.
now in phoenix bring down the system menu. click the your controls menu and select dx6i.
then go to your transmiter menu and follow through the advanced calibration.
that done you should have basic control of all aircraft and heli's as they are set up in phoenix.
worry about curves etc when you get to know your way around better!

Thanks muchly for the replies guys! I love this forum.
I have done as Boggy suggested and it works now.
Have been flying/crashing like a good un'.
I suspect this is just the start of a very long/steep learning curve, so no doubt more Q's will follow.

                  Thanks again people!

Ron, I have set up the TX (see, Im'e getting into the terminology already) as per the Spektrum site for BCX2.
Have got stuck on the binding process, the manual goes on about plugging the bind plug to the charging lead for the battery, but it won't fit anything I can see .
Is it me being thick or should there be an adaptor/lead for this?

                  Paul.

                    Cancel that Ron.

I 'dug-out' the BCX2 manual and it shows where to fit the bind plug .
Job done & flies a treat.

Don't worry mate, when I started with CCPM helis and I started to read the manuals I thought the same as you, but things start making sense as you carry on, I know boat loads compared to when I started flying my 450, but there's still heaps I don't understand and still learning.

Take what has been said by the others as gospel, the fact you've written a thread explaining your complete confusion with all the technical areas of this hobby only goes to show your willingness to learn, and that's all you need mate.

Best of luck, this'll be the best hobby your ever take up.
