  • can anyone help me? Very new and in trouble...

    Hi all

As the subject says im a very new heli flyer, I have been interested for many years and only now just bought a Dragonfly RC Helicopter from ebay, the only problem is that it came already assembles and "ready to fly" however, i charged the batteries put them in and decided to to try and play with it for a little.

I got the blades to spin... and that is all it does  It also vibrates violently the faster they spin I realize many people may be laughing now but what am i doing wrong? Also with just that happening my battery only lasts like 4 mins ops:

If anyone can help with suggestions then please do. I should also say that as far as messing with all the insides of the helicopter goes its kinda hard as i am partially sighted so its kinda difficult.

ill be interested if anyone can help.

    Many thanks

    p.s.

Is there like a very amateur club for this sort of thing in or near Reading?

    Hi Melvik

I dont know the dragonfly espeically, however i may be able to help from experience.

On the large majority of heli's, blades will self align when spun up due to forces, so you should keep the blades loose (ish), not sloppy, but enough that they start to fall slowly when held horizontal. However, saying that, some micro heli's (such as the twister) require the blades to be done up rock tight, set in the correct position. - if you can find out which is best for your heli, that should sort your virbartion problem - as it does sound like blade tracking/levelling.

It could also be to bent main shaft, though you get more of a wobble, and it usually easy to spot - main shafts are really cheap and easy to change.

Ensure your swashplate is level as possible, and that your paddles are also level and the distances of the paddles are equal from the centre.

With a standard battery you wont get long, i would say 5mins. This is why most people are turning to lithium powered batteries, whereby on a setup with a brushless motor you could get 20mins easy.

Let me know how you get on,

    Cheers

    Greig.

      Hello Creig

Many thanks for your reply, although I am afraid you quite lost me....

Let me first ask you are you in the uk? About the lithium batteries and brushless motor do you know any good websites where they can be brought from? also with charger? I have a crappy chinese with english converter..

As for the blades they are kinda floppy but they do straighten when theyt are spinning so I think that is ok.

I think more than anything right now i should sort that battery as it is a real pain when it only lasts such a short time, its almost impossible to check anything. Is there not a plug you can connect to the mains and into the heli so it will not die?

you kinda did lose me with the rest but i do not have alot of time tonight anyway.

      Hope you can still help

      Thanks
      Melvik
