  • Cellpro Balance Leads

What's the difference between "cellpro balance leads" (as on http://www.aurorra.co.uk/shop/home.php?cat=262), and the charger/balancer connections on E-Sky or BCX2 LiPos ?

I'm thinking of trying some alternative LiPos (such as linked above), but I'd like to use my existing E-Sky chargers for now.

If it's a different conector, can I swap the connectors, or use an adaptor ?

the best advise is call mike @ aurorra he will be able to help you really good chap always has time to help you. yes you will be able to change the connectors and if you ask mike he might have a adapter but not sure. the cellpro connector will be different from the e-sky connectors.

When I tried about a year ago, Aurorra couldn't supply an adaptor to convert JST-PA (the cellpro connectors) to JST-XH (the align/ esky connectors) to charge it on my BC601 charger. In the end I bought the Cellpro 4s and have been happy, but a few times it would have been convenient if I had an adaptor (until the BC601 committed suicide). Really, if you don't have a decent charger, shell out for a Cellpro. It's completely worth it.

You can buy a cellpro 'extension lead', and stick a JST-XH connector on it. You can also buy JST-PA connectors from RS, I think.

I'm currently in the position of having about 6 of the basic E-Sky chargers (don't ask...). These seem to charge and balance my current set of batteries quite happilly, and as I have 6, they do have a good throughput.

In the future, it may well make sense to get a/some better chargers, but I'm not inclined to do that just to try a different kind of LiPo. Especially as I don't know what I'll need in the future.

Thanks. This is the kind of thing I had in mind. It's good that I now know the connector names.

            Hello m8y I'm confused :P

I have 5s Revos atm with the single 5s balance leads on them that plug strait in to the 10s cellpro, but i'm thinking of redoing the packs in to a 10s configuration so would need to add, an extra 5s balance lead, then there will be two 5s balance leads to plug into the charger from each pack.

question is what part numbers do i need from your list to make up these pigtails ??

think its these two ??? >>>

              Jason,
You could just link them using a Series pack connecter instead...
Call Mike as he sells them

don't think thats gona work m8y I need to add an extra pigtail to each pack as im converting them from 5s to 10s

and i can make up 10 pigtails this way for under a fiver :P how much do you think they would cost each from Mike ?, I'm not knocking him btw as I imagine he has had to make them up and this is labour consuming, but im trying to save some money as im only playing with a project.

                thxs jason

                    Hi Jason,
The connector boards are meant to save the work of manually joining packs together - so you could run 2x 5S packs as a 10S pack by plugging them both into a Series connector board - and then connecting the board to your ESC.

I've done this myself (when I first got my Trex500 I linked up 2x 3S packs to make a 6S pack using a Series board) but maybe I've misunderstood what it is your trying to do??

                    I hate soldering LiPos
                    LOL
                    Cheers,

                      your miss understanding me m8

i have a 5s 4200 revo pack, it's made from 10x2100mha cells, i have stripped it down to bare cells, i now have 10 2100mha cells, Now i have re soldered 8 of said cells in series to create 1x 8s2100 pack, now i need an extra balance lead pigtail to solder on to this pack it will then have two balance plugs on it, this is so I can charge it on the 10s cellpro, As a single pack.

I have sourced the parts i need now to make up m own pigtails thxs for all your help.

As fast as stock arrives to Mike three quarters are already accounted for, I'd recommend placing a prepayment to secure the item required.

Through demand I had to wait three weeks for my chargeboard so to power up my 5s batts.
