  • First hover !

yeeees ! first hover achieved. had some setup problems which Simon from Midland Helicopters kindly helped with over the phone today. got home tonight, took a deep breath, put her in the middle of the lawn & went for it ! Only had one emergency landing into a large green plant which the wife tells me is an Acer and worth a few bob before it headed over next doors fence. fortunately no damage to my T-rex. Unfortunately pruned the Acer, wife not amused ! carried on flying & used four batteries worth of airtime with no other dramas, I'm well chuffed. need to work on setup abit more as it has a funny oscilating wobble to it. Need to do a bit more reading up !
    see ya soon.

    tis a good feeling!

don't worry you'll soon be breaking much more than plants!

    cheers

I thought the feeling was better when you got thongs off, seriously though, well done mate, hoping it won't be too much longer before I join the 'I hovered a proper heli' club.

Defo a good feeling! i hovered my trex 500 yesterday in the field for the first time, thanks to Disc setting it up, and another member of his club adjusting the tx settings!! Had about 2 batteries worth in the air myself, very nerve racking waiting for the 6 min timer to go off though :O

Congrats. The next milestone is the first crash, once your past that nothing will dampen your enthusiasm.

Thanks everyone for you encouragement.thongs definitely more fun! Been out again tonight ,really gusty wind in the garden which makes things interesting. used a couple of batteries then quit while still in one piece. Made some small setup changes to balance which seemed to help, think I am going to invest in a new gyro, a Futaba GY401 seems to be very popular, any one have any other suggestions around the same money?

401 is good for the job, and will see you alright until you progress into real 3D.
                        Cant go wrong with that
