  • More that just hoveing and wobbleing about

    Morning all..

I went for a fly on Saturday afternoon there was no one else at the flying site.
Which was nice as I was able to concentrate

Up till now I have been hovering but as soon as the heli got height than me I got shaky so I got very brave and took the heli up and it with in 5 mins I was much happier.

I also set up idle up to have the same throttle setting all the way trough with the same pitch curve as normal and the heli seems much easier to fly.

By the end of my session I was flying 100 times better than ever and I even managed to turn the heli nose in (OK only for a second or 2)

But what a buzz my hands were still shaking but with excitement not fear...

Lazy 8 are my next goal.....

I have been stuck at the same point for a while now and its great that I can now advance.

I have been a lot more confident on the phoenix for ages but when I get to the field I have not had the bottle to try anything except hovering and triangles.

But on Saturday I was up high and flying circles and Figure 8 - tail in....It is a great feeling...

Not sure what you mean by this, but If I get your jist you have set something like this

          80 bottom, 80 int 1, 80 middle, 80 int 2, and 80 top.

(80 is just a figure I plucked out of the air)

If you are still learning, and hovering at mid stick you might be better off with a curve more like this

this is presuming you hover at 50% throttle, if not adjust it to suit.

          40, Bottom, 30 int 1, 50 middle, 75 int 2, 100 top

this should keep your engine revs and power delivery much more constant, and allow you to bring the heli down with some speed etc. What pitch curve do you run, and what range, cause running that throttle curve you would want to be something like this

          -4 bottom, 0 (ish) Int 1, 5 middle, 7.5 int 2, 10 top

          (pitch in degrees)

I am assuming alot of things in this post, like no governor, or that you are even flying a nitro, so if not just ignore me completely.
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.

A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly

          And a DX8 too

im really confident with phoenix now, been hovering with my b400 for ages easy now, on the sim it feels really easy when u get 15-20 meters in the air and keep a nice forward moving speed, going to go for that tomorrow hopefully if the weathers nice !
            Blade 400 like!
